What hotel are you guys staying at? I wouldn't mind paying for a lift to and from the event each day, but I'm definitely not renting a car as that's turned out to be a huge hassle in any of my travel experiences.

We're staying at the same hotels as allways - 50m from the venue and 0€ per night. The only bad thing there is that it's freezing during the night

As seen in the back:

Hah, I remember that umbrella. You lived 15 meters from us.

We havent booked anything yet. One of my buddies tried several hotels closest to the venue and they were all booked, so we decided to rent a car and book a hotel when the time comes. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of available hotels at driveable distance (10-15km hopefully).

Haha, if I was 15-20 years younger (and 30-40 kilos lighter) I wouldn't have thought twice about grabbing a tent, but nowadays I definitely look for a decent bed and a shower in the morning... As Cohen the Barbarian once said "Hot water and soft toilet paper" ARE the most important things in life, after a certain point anyway

Yes, we usually find many available ones at that distance, even less than a month before the festival.

The guy with umbrella in his hand is almost your age I believe :D

Khund: So you survived all that Katatonia and Voivod that was blasting out of one of our cars? :D

If you have a driving vehicle i can recomand Bad Mergentheim, about 8km from Lauda/Königshofen. It's something like a spa town with lots of hotels and a beautiful town center. I was there the first time this year and i found a great steakehouse within two minutes after i arrived :D
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

Sovdat: never heard a thing! The Germans just uphill from us were kind enough to constantly play Zeke on maximum volume. Nice blokes!

Camping is out of the question for me.

Us prissy North Americans need our morning showers.

SPA hotel definitely sounds better than sovdat's offer (Katatonia, yuck!), thanks for the tip.

Don't know if that's full yet, but we always stay at the Rebenhof in Beckstein, which is about a 40 minute walk (if you're slow, lazy or drunk) away from the festival site.

I'm looking at DAMIEN THORNE's page at M-A right now and while I am reading that the band is active, the current singer is some guy named Martin DeBourge. And the question is: Won't they play with Justin Fate next year? That would be a major disappointment for me as they are the band I want to see the most..
