Talk about another quality N.W.O.B.H.M. band that again fell under the radar. Again, plagued by the music industry, they never reached as many ears as they would have liked back then. The band formed in the late 70’s and wrote some of the catchiest tunes imaginable from that era. The “Seven Days Of Splendour” single features some of the best tunes ever created back then and when you pick this anthology of songs presented here, you’ll agree the quality is here. I could play “It’s A Crime” on repeat for days and never get sick of that riff. The vocals are pretty straight forward, with a slightly unique pitch and tone to them. I can’t imagine any collector of N.W.O.B.H.M. not wanting this for their collection. Let the music speak for itself.

Have both 7 inchers already, but I'll definitely pick this up for the demo tracks! JR is one of my top 5 fave NWOBHM bands.

Why the odd track order? I would have expected to see the released stuff together as it was released.

That's what the band wanted. Not a big deal as long as the songs are there.

"Poor Little Rich Girl"

Another quality release from Shadow Kingdom in my opinion.

Whoever tried to shoot out the funny-looking member with the charlestone pants and white sneakers missed out by a handspan. Other than that the artwork is perfect.

Band has some pretty good songs. As for me liking the artwork... Well you know I'm picky haha ;) I don't like it no, it's just a band photo, framed with an ugly stone-like background, with the title in an ugly font, and the band logo up top in a different colour... I'm sorry but what is good about it? Obviously my idea of what looks good severely clashes with other people's, and I often wonder how it can be. What is aesthetically pleasing is personal opinion, and ANY design will always have its fans - but just like the consensus is that certain metal simply is shit, in the eyes of those with more experience etc., well when art and aesthetics have been a part of ones life since childhood then it certainly provides a slightly different onset regarding what works and what doesn't, and not thinking everything is amazing.

I've thought about it quite often, it's always strange to face opinions so different to one's own that it's impossible to see where they are coming from(yes I've moved on from the Raid art by now heh). Old bands get together and release records with the most terrible digital shit art, contemporary bands extoll the 80's yet the art that 'graces' their releases couldn't be further from the spirit they claim to be perpetuating - and I can't understand it. Same thing with a few labels releasing old stuff - where is the spirit? Even if everyone told me I'm being stupid etc. I couldn't stop feeling the way I do - and the thing is I'm really happy when people succeed, I don't want to constantly put things down. However this realm of metal that this forum embraces; the more underground, the more forgotten, it naturally puts you at odds with the general metal populace - I have to say I often feel disgust for the average meathead 'metal' fan with all their BM shirts, Matrix metal outfits or extreme shit, Wacken posers and what have you - well the point is that metal music is, though similar to many other interests, something that divides into us and them so it's nothing out of the ordinary to have disagreements over things, it's just 'funny' that regardless of how far down you go, now talking about this cirlce of underground metal that there's still lots of disagreement, but that's nature, you break things down to smaller and smaller parts, and still you end up with electrons and protons so it's simply natural order.
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?

That song actually wasn't written by JR. It was written by 2 other guys that joined JR.

The other song 'Hard Lines' was on the Metal for Muthas 2, an EMI album that we couldn't get an answer from EMI for, so decided not to use because of copyright issues.

Hope that clears everything up.

That's a leather background.

Not every metal cover is going to be amazing and classic. Not every metal album is going to be amazing and classic. That's what makes us appreciate the great stuff (in both art and music) more.
