I would have said that it's a valid opinion, some Metal does have Hammond on it and the OP finds that to be a reason why HM rules.
It's his opinion and he's entitled to it despite what the rest of us may feel on the subject.
The black/death/corpsepaint stuff does nothing for me, but i can't (and wouldn't), exclude it just because it's not my thing.
The reasons why heavy metal rules are myriad and many hued, it's a broad enough church that there should be room for all it's many shades.
Personally i enjoy the Hammond on '60's/'70's proto style stuff, but the only "recent" bands i've heard using it effectively have been SPIRITUAL BEGGARS and MYSTICK KREWE OF CLEARLIGHT.
However there are a great many bands down the years who have used it sparingly on the occasional song for mood or a little colour & texture. If only for that reason i say the nomination should stand.
"Orion" without the growl of the organ? Unthinkable.

The main objection I have is that hammond represents other genres. If you say hammond no one is gonna think about heavy metal. That's why I think is not a valid point.

That's a valid point because is synthesizer on a metal context, but just saying "hammond organ solos", that has nothing to do with metal to me.508. The Demo version of Frost and Fire with the awesome Synthesizer.

Uh I can think of many great metal songs/albums with good and atmospheric synth stuff thrown in but not so many with that hammond sound.MEXDefenderOfSteel wrote:hammond sound sounds great if bands know where to put it...but just that type of sound, any other "keyboard thing" fails big time in real HM

No, they don't. They never did. It's just another example of a so-called ''classic'' band that doesn't mean shit to me.GJ wrote:Yup! They do.The Erlking wrote:Deep Purple rules though

Deep Purple + In Rock >> Machine Head. I love Deep Purple up to and including Perfect Strangers.Cochino wrote:I haven't heard everything from them and I've heard a lot of things I didn't like but Machine Head is a great album.
Of course, Deep Purple doesn't come even near to Black Sabbath.
Oh, and thanks, GJ, that evens up the list
Imagine Blitzkrieg's Blitzkrieg with a Hammond Organ. Oh no, you don't have to, it exists.GJ wrote:Test: Imagine Fast as a shark with hammond organ.
