The sheer VOLUME of Mausoleum Records' output sometimes makes you forget how bloody great many of them were. Sure, there's plenty of mediocre stuff inbetween, but with over 100 releases in only 3 years there's bound to be a classic or 12 in there you still haven't discovered.

The old Mausoleum Records website offered a much more detailed account on the early years of the label than the current one, so here's an archive.org-link.I've chosen to only cover the vinyl years, including a handful of 1990-91 releases on the revived German edition of the label.

...And then it's the reoccuring question of the "SKULL"-indexes and the odd, non-SKULL ones. Here's how I interpret it:

SKULL = your basic, full-length LP
BONE = MLPs
FIST = MLPs and some albums falling inbetween the MLP and LP format
TEST = their one and only 12" compilation EP
KICK/SPORT = their novelty sport record, 7" and 12"
BALLS/LORD/LUST = their 3 double-LPs
GUTS = 7"s
