Keep It True 2025 Roll-call!

Post by DaN »

We're once again one week away from #1 European Heavy Metal Mancation - Keep It True @ Lauda-Königshofen

I think we're going to see some old friends who hasn't been around for a while, yes? For instance...

Who else will be at KIT to meet for a beer or three ?
The usual + more I believe :D
...and everyone, please remember to ask Roman to review that legendary Tyrant's Reign gig in 2004 - I think it's one of his faves and most heartfelt KIT memories...

Been there since KIT 2. Always loved it.
Glad they'll bring back the market inside the venue.

I saw some videos on KIT´s youtube channel and seems the bands sounded great, I didn´t know Harry Conklin was singing for Heir Apparent, I couldn´t stop thinking of Jag Panzer while listening to it ,weird

Last time I attended this festival was in 2009, I´m getting tempted to revisit next year, what has changed since then? is it worth the money considering that legendary bands have less and less original members with each passing year? is it time for me to return to Germany? :)

Yeah, I'm a fan-boy but I really want to stress: Keep It True has NEVER let me down in the 20+ years I've visited the festival and last weekend was as great a perfect Heavy Metal mancation as ever!

Some band-reflections:
Brocas Helm = Even chaotic'er than before but screw the nay-sayers! As an ever die-hard fan I loved the shit out them still..
Slauter Xtroyes / SA Slayer / Purgatory = All these US Kült Metal stalwarts delivered more than sufficiantly. Had a blast!
Sabbrabells = Cockfuck! We drunkendly missed more than half of the set because beer & socializing @ car, but what we saw was rippin'!
Riot = Next to flawless. Perfect, classic professional main act for the festival and a killer set of songs from their legacy.
Solitude Aeturnus = Should probably catch up more with their recording legacy, since what I saw was bloody great. So weird to see Rob Lowe NOT staring down on a lyric cheat-sheet through the whole show though..

...but SACRED BLADE was The Big One this year. They simply did everything right, truly understanding and representing their original, mystic legacy and sound from the classic album, delivering a simply Magic show that's probably the best I've seen at the fest' since SIREN in 2018. Lump in my feckin' throat...

Shout-outs:
Our standard Swedish posse has shrunken in later years so this year we were only me + mordred & brother David + our fave limey msp joining from Frankfurt as 4th wheel. Still, couldn't ask for a better quad of Steel companions! As always you run into plenty of olde & new friends like a few Peter's (Daub, Lelgemann), Luis, Henri, tbieri, Decibel Rebel, Ader, Andi, Brigida ...heck, even Natteskog after sunday breakfast @ the hotel

And last but not least...

Sacred Blade was really something else. Since 2005, top-5 gigs easily in KIT for me. I think I saw only good gigs this year, RIOT, Solitude Aeturnus, Heir Apparent, Brocas Helm, Iron Griffin, Alien Force, Sortilege (best Sortilege I have witnessed), Violent Force.

Does anyone have idea what was Purgatory singer inhaling from a tube under his shirt during the gig? Asthma medicine or something?

And how I love the smell of Frankfurt hauptbahnhof in the sunday morning.

Thankfully I managed to avoid Frankfurt hauptbahnhof completely this time... Once was enough! Bit late here but I only got home now after some further post-KIT adventures...

My personal favourite of the fest was by far Slauter Xstroyes, holy what a show! I was at first a bit apprehensive about how the vocalist would sound but I was blown away and the setlist had all of my must-see songs too. Other highlights for me were Iron Griffin, Sabbrabells, Sortilège, and Riot (that never ending encore though, damn haha, so happy they got Rick Ventura along though, Altar of the King with the intro sent chills down my spine, The Tyrant Conklin ruled too!). (+Hyena playing a Randy cover, wasn't TOO big on them otherwise but that was cool)

I think from all of you corro-freaks I only met DaN (if you remember we talked about Vágtázó Halottkémek, unfortunately didn't end up seeing them even though I had tickets, pretty bummed but there's always next time I suppose ) If any of you saw or talked to a drunk Finn either wearing a Törr or Randy Uchida shirt that was me, so hello, cheers, hail and kill etc...!
