Raw heavy metal

Post by tomas »

I'm looking for raw heavy metal recommendations. Raw stuff like Medieval, Rose Bayonet, Manilla Road, Mistreater, ...
I don't really like the 'clean' kind of heavy metal 8)

Thanks !

Lightforce - Mystical Thieves
Days of Yore - Mad gods wage (from 1997 but rulez!)
Ripper - and the Dead shall rise
Phantom Lord - Evil never sleeps
Taist of Iron - Resurrection

and the most raw and evil of them all:

Satans Host - Metal from Hell

Hmm, can't agree on this. The thrash/black bands have it, true, but the "normal" latin american Metal bands were always a bit "cheesy" to me...

Great thread that just forced me to put on CRISIS' "Armed to the Teeth" MLP. Easy to find and a must in any Metal collection! This is your superior budget-alternative to ROSE BAYONET 8) and you have to love that guitarsound.

First I have to second some titles already mentioned:

BLACK VIRGIN - Tomas, if you don't already have this you better put it at the top of your wantlist. Simply one of my all-time favourite Metal records. All 8 tracks slay. So raw, so perfect... and the vocals! Meanest, American SMF ever together w/ Siki Spacek of BLACK DEATH (there, another recommendation!)

FUTURE TENSE - Simply the meanest, most EVIL & ugly of all those WestEuro Speed/Heavy Metal bands of the early/mid 80's. Eternal Hails to Rob for spreading the FUTURE TENSE-disease to a wider audience

DELIVERANCE - see separate thread

Lots of other great stuff mentioned here, although I wouldn't necessary agree on their "rawness" being their defining trait.

What else? INNER SANCTUM - "12 am" LP obviously. The bootleg CD should still be findable, but the sound is slightly muffled compared to the very rare vinyl. Crushing, ultra-heavy stuff anyway and some of the rawest guitars ever.
The DEVILS CHILDE MLP is also recommended if you think you'd enjoy a mix of PENTAGRAM and VENOM. NME - "Total Death" ofcourse, but they might be familiar... Need to take another beer now and see what comes up...

Brutal Heavy metal, check this out:

OSTROGOTH- Ecstasy and Danger LP
FACT- as a matter of fact LP
MIDNIGHT DARKNESS- holding the night LP
(a very underrated LP according to me, I am quite obsessed with this LP, you all NEED this one !! Maybe not that brutal though)
MONSTERS OR ROCK (yes, the russian complecation LP. It got some VERY lame tracks but includes some really brutal stuff from Master and Black Obelisk, check out !)

(and of course) TURBO's "kawaleria szatana" LP.

Agree with metalmaster. I'd also add to the ''cheesy''-band list the following: Megaton, Dhak, Retrosatan, Thor, Icarus, Resistencia, Arkangel, Alvacast, Chronos, Shock etc
