PICTURE comeback album is excellent

Picture has released their comeback album "Old Dogs New Tricks" this autumn and it's absolutely awesome old school rockin' melodic metal 1982 style. Picks up right where Diamond Dreamer left off. Stuff like this just isn't being made anymore.

They got samples of two of the best songs, "Blood out of a Stone" and "Celtic Cross" on their myspace, so check it out yourselves.

Some of the songs sounded a little too modern edged for my liking. Not too modern, just not just how I like it. At least they sounded that way live.

The only song I would say has a little more modern edge is "Chosing Your Sign", which was indeed performed live and to my ears sounded even more modern live. There was another they performed live too, but it's not on the album.

Anyway, check the link, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. It's pretty much as far from modern as anything gets.

I think it's their own release, it says the label is called Marsmountains.

Picture is one band that their music never really made any real sort of impression on me good or bad. I don't know, the adrenaline just doesn't flow...

The new songs on myspace sound just ok.

New songs are not too bad, certainly better than the circa 1986ish crap, but the classic Picture line up is my favorite (ie Picture 1 and Heavy Metal Ears) very underated classics that deserve more respect in my opinion.
