This is the band from CLEVELAND'S HEAVY METAL: ETCHED IN STEEL compilation (1984). They made a 2 song basement demo in 83. Re-recorded one of those songs for the compilation (BLOOD AND GUTS!!), and then made 2 other 4 song demos (84 and 87). This is the last recording they did before they disbanded.
I was given this demo, alongside both others, a pre-WHITE NIGHT demo tape, and a MISTREATER demo tape some time last year. But never uploaded any of the stuff. But FUCK IT im sure some people here have wondered about this band. So enjoy!
The comp song is my favorite. Very heavy very young band that I think will appeal to a lot of people on here. Very full of energy I know a lot of people here know the LP. It also features MISTREATER, SORCERER, the first appearance of SEVERE WARNING and other great acts. Heres Gutwrench's song of the comp. Re-recorded after they did it live on a basement demo one year earlier.
Thanks. I've wondered about buying that compilation a few times, but could never be bothered to pay the postage, and I've always been under the impression the other Cleveland compilation I have is better anyway... This 'Etched In Steel' has a cool cover. But I didn't like any of the Gutwrench tracks, WAY too simple and yeah 'meatheaded', very repetitive with bad lyrics, the kind of stuff that should end after the first chorus but they just keep repeating the riffs cos 'songs should be longer than that'.

Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.
The Battery track is on NORTHCOAST STEEL, which I also love. The Gutwrench demo stuff maybe somewhat primitive, but it has an ameteursish charm I like in a lot of demo bands. And especially since BLOOD AND GUTS is an awesome song and basically nothing is known about this band I figured this would make an interesting and pretty cool upload. If you want I could upload a really obscure demo that BLOWS MY FUCKING MIND. I could upload VATICAN - ANSWER TO THE MASTER as soon as I get my hardrives set up again. That shit DESTROYS. Technical and memorable leads, stunning falsetto, catchy yet badass riffs that blow me away. Everything I like in classic obscure demo ass-kickery. I still like the Gutwrench stuff though, even if Blood And Guts is thier best song.
They have a demo tape but it only includes Melting Ground exactly as it appears on CONVICTED and an early version of White Evil (labeled "The White Evil") that is unmastered, and half finished, with some different riff structure, different solos, and no ending verses cause they hadnt been written yet. Its plain tape with the band info written on the front by the singer and his phone number on a peice of paper folded up inside the case.
