Taipan unreleased tracks, from the early years
of the same quality of the 7" tracks imo. These are just rehearsals and jams if I'm not mistaken. Featuring the original versions of Stone witch and Insomnia (which recently rerecorded and modernised on their latest cd) But this is chaotic raw and great HM not to be missed. Some of these tracks, as well as more unreleased and the 7" tracks were all part of their early live sets. It would be killer if I could get this footage online but until then enjoy.

Hate to say it, but on first impression the tracks don't do much for me. THey almost seem more akin to the 1770 material than the Breakout EP. I'm beginning to think that 'breakout', 'lady', and 'tired of you' were not typical of the band's sound/direction. A shame, as those 3 songs destroy minds and reap souls. THanks for posting the stuff; very cool to hear even if they didn't live up to my (ridiculously high) expectations

Fair call. I originally thought the same about these tracks but I'll suggest to you now that eventually they might grow on you. I like these epic Stone witch and Insomnia tracks a lot now. The other 2 are cool too, especially the jamming towards the end of the tracks. I think they might of been written a little bit after the 7", if not around the same time as they were all part of the setlist in '82. The 7" itself has a varied direction, the B sides are obviously alot more evil sounding and harder if not proto(I hate that word)-/thrashier songs THE CELLAR! especially. The band was full of songwriters and they alternated between who was singing. They were band of many ideas that should of been a lot bigger for its day, a tale of many. I know Dan digs these. I'll try to get a whole show one day.
1770 years later is something else all together. Lets not go there. Although I'm starting to appreciate a couple of those songs for what they are.

On the first few plays i was a bit disappointed by these recordings, but further listens began to yield some nuances i missed initially and the riffs began to get under my skin.
Several plays later and i'm really starting to get to grips with it now and i'm liking what i hear. The untitled track ("Supernova" possibly?) in particular, is quite infectuous and "Stonewitch" has some great riffs, although a rawer guitar sound would have helped these recordings no end.
These songs would have formed a pretty cool EP back in the day, it's a shame that Taipan didn't release more material back then. If there's more stuff in the vaults of this quality, one of the reissue labels should do an anthology.
I can dream.
Many thanks for the upload Nicko.

No this isn't the one I have but I'll download it and have a listen. I'm talking about footage... Bombay Rock 1982 supporting HEAVEN tracklist 1. Saddletramp, Anthem, Tired of You, Lady, Insomnia, Breakout, The Cellar, Stonewitch, Extremist Militants, Radar Love, Killer Whale, Badger.
