Similar albums to Overkill's Feel the fire

Post by lions roar »

[Edited the thread title in order to fit better with the question of the thread./Mod]

anyone know any other albums that sound like it ?

been looking for one for ages (one of my fav albums) , best finds was juggernaut ,mortal sin and wrath , although , still not a 'copy' enough ,like what i'm searching for

thought this might be a good place to find such album :)

the main thing i look for is the type of vocals , if the music is also the same as in that album , it would be great

I always thought early Metal Church was similar.

yeah , metal church is great , but they do sound pretty original to me ,in their own way

i'm looking for somthing that sound though exactly like feel the fire .... metal church sounds much thiner usually ,more heavy metal oriented , never have those iron maiden/omen type of "riding guitars" if you know what i mean like overkill use alot in that album, and they have a very diffrent vocals

what i'm looking for is basically a good clone ... if metallica had millions of clones to any of their releases , i'm sure this album must have one out there

It's such a classic/traditional sound on that album I'm sure there's tons of copies out there. Matching the same vocals with the same music could be harder. I think ABATTOIR came pretty close, though since they appeared pretty much simultaneously they can't be considered "clones". I'll put on the thinking-hat...

I can't think of any album that's really close to FTF soundwise. I doubt whether you can find a vocalist similar to Blitz, his voice was so unique.

As far as i remember only one band had some very obvious influences from early OVERKILL and that's METAL INQUISITOR on their first efforts. Then again it's not what'd you call a FTF clone.

abattoir ?well Vicious Attack didn't really made me think of feel the fire but maybe though , those high pitched sceams sometimes do remind those of feel the fire

"It's such a classic/traditional sound on that album "

yeah , thats the thing , many bands have "songs" like it , like anvil's winged assasins or griffin's "hawk the slayer" who might remind it , the tricky part is finding a band who actually made a whole album like that...been searching for such a thing for ages

i came across many types of thrash bands who sounded a little like it ... there must be a band out there who did such a thing correctly.... it doesn't have to be a clone .... if it sounds like it , have the same ideas ,and mostley close vocals ,its good enough

"I'll put on the thinking-hat"

hehe ,thanx

Sorry for coming off as a total idiot here, but aren't there some similarities in the vocal tone of the Blitz and Dave Mustaine? I admit to not being a connaisseur of either Overkill or Megadeth.

ion - checking em out now .... your right , from the first few notes it sounded like "hammerhead" , although , taken to a diff-direction

good recomandation man , still , i hope to find somthing a little more like the original

gj - hmm , their voices might be close in overkill's work after taking over... but before that blitz had a unique type of singing .... and overkill had a unique type of playing , it was like iron maiden turning to thrash or somthing ....

Figures. I only have mid period Overkill stuff (bought cheap, all of them < 3 €). Need to check out their earlier stuff! From Megadeth I have the first two, but never listen to them...

Check out these, if you don't know them already:

CARNIVORE
AGGRESSOR (By Any Means Necessary)
NASTY SAVAGE
OCTOBER 31
LIEGE LORD (Master Control)

They all play some fierce power metal with thrash elements. The only problem is that you won't find another singer like Bobby "Blitz".

i do know em , though never really listened to more then a song or two by carnivore ,so i'll check it out .
about aggressor i'm not sure which one you talk about , is it todays "magus beast"?

i dont agree man , there are singers that sound like(old singing of) blitz , in heavy metal(like , in some songs , the guy from anvil do share close vocals and many of the same approach) , and there were many bands that could sound like a decent copy of early overkill if they had the right vocals , so i think there must be at least one band like that out there

Ha, maybe one of the ten best Power Metal records for me. Can't remember a total clone album but I'll give it a little thinking.
