TITANIC(US)-'Then There Was Rock' LP

Post by daniel »

Again, from my own vinyl. A grower this one, the A-side is just amazing, kikkeliskokkelis bass, epic atmosphere mixed with loose rocking mayhem and siren vocals. At times like a more metallic Led Zeppelin, at least Plant easily springs to mind when it comes to the vocal performance and quite a 70's vibe overall. What I meant by saying it's a grower is that at first I didn't so much like the contrast between certain very metal riffs and passages and the more rocking atmosphere, but I've come to love it all!

Two things: a) I don't like Led Zeppelin, b) I can't stand listening to Robert Plant singing, his voice simply gets on my nerves. The rule is that bands who are influenced heavily by Led Zeppelin usually don't click with me and unfortunately Titanic are not the exception.

This is so much better than Led Zeppelin though! And the vocals aren't anywhere near as annoying as Plant's, no gay ooooh aaah this and that when he should just shut up - ego burning through his pants.

After all that discussion that we had a few months ago, i thought that it was made pretty clear that no rips below 192 Kbps will be accepted again. I will certainly not waste my time trying to explain the rules and the why's once more. Link is removed./Mod

So I see it isn't, but that's some computer fuck up, I thought otherwise.

Which program do you use for ripping vinyls?

The mp3 bit rate usually can be set when you are about to save the file. When you click on "Save As" you can choose the file type and the bitrate you want at "Options" menu. The default bitrate must be set at 128 Kbps i think. At least that's what it is at Adobe Auditon which is the one i use.

I can reup this one at a better bitrate, but i'm afraid you will have to rip Stonehenge again, unless of course you have saved the original rip somewhere in your hard disk.

I use Audacity, I had set it at 256, don't know what went wrong this time, but obviously some mistake was made hah. Yeah I have the Stonehenge rip on my USB...

I just added a link to a 224Kbps rip.

@daniel: when and if you decide to make a better rip from your own vinyl feel free to add the link in the opening post.
