STORMBRINGER/FAITH demos

Post by DaN »

For The Sentinel. We'll start of with the STORMBRINGER debut demo:

password: www.thecorroseum.com

Not totally flawless, but we're not exactly spoiled with M FATE-influenced Doom(ish) Metal from Sweden.

...and so:
FAITH - "The Blue Demo" demo 85

...and eventually:
FAITH - demo 86

Damn, not bad AT ALL. The last track really rules, I always like those accelerations at the end of an already great track. The old Swedisch metal scene is raising my interest to the utmost lately. I shall upload some stuff as quick as possible (still waiting for my own fucking computer  ) before asking for the Act - Crime- and Shylock demos (yes, ther're from that great Swedish sampler on Stormbringer Records)

I had already mentioned it in some other thread, but let me say it once more: The Shylock demos are definitely not in the same league with the track in MK aka "The chosen one". In fact, i'm quite surprised they recorded a track like that since the demo material tends more into strong classic heavy and not into the pounding epic style of The Chosen One. It's not bad at all, but the compilation track can really mislead someone's expectations...I'll upload it probably in the weekend, just to prove my point.

Great demo! Perhaps the best swedish doom band ever. I believe I think so honestly, together with Mercy. My favourite track on this demo is "Cemeteries" - what a chorus!

You may also want to know that this one is called THE BLACK DEMO from the year 1985.

IB: Yes, so true about SHYLOCK - one outstanding killer track - the rest is average.

Unfortunately 2 of the best demos ever recorded in Sweden doesn't seem to be available with decent sound :(
I'm talking about the fantastic 2-song debut by KILLERHAWK (epic Metal w/ fem vox, very similar to the CRYSTAL PRIDE 7" and easily as godly!) and DARK TYRANT (simple but raw and really fucking intense METAL!)

I have heard the DARK TYRANT demo. It was raw metal ala SAVAGERS as you described it, i find it just good though. Nothing extraordinary about it. Maybe i'll listen to it once more...The sound quality of my copy was below average.

Never heard of the KILLERHAWK demo. Is it really that good?

Yes it is. Much better than the 2nd one of which one track was featured on "Metal Knights".

Stupid question regarding the intro of track 5: What is the person doing before he/she chokes?

I don't think that the first KILLERHAWK demo sounds any better to begin with than the circulating verson does. After all, it comes from Janne Stark. He lived in the same town as Killerhawk and played the same venues back in the day, it would be odd if he was sitting on a tenth generation copy only.

The STORMBRINGER demo is one of the better things I've heard recently, will get to the FAITH demo eventually, thank you.
