SHADOW (US) - Iron Umbrella MLP 1989

Post by ION BRITTON »

Similar case with the SABRE - "Keepers of the sword" band, this album was recorded in Germany by American soldiers who were serving their country there. Soundwise, it's not exactly the pounding US power metal style one would expect to hear as SHADOW sound more european than your usual USPM band and the blending of their MAIDEN/RUNNING WILD/SCORPIONS/JUDAS PRIEST influences make the result surprisingly enjoyable. Needless to say that chances finding an original are really really low.

Thanks a lot for this dude.

I remember seeing this sell on eBay a while ago for an outragous price and was really curious as to what it sounded like.

Many thanx! One of those US super-rarities I still hadn't heard but always wanted to. Nothing that exceptional, but I like this "brand" of Metal a lot, so it might grow on a 2nd or 3rd listening.

I agree, I love this kind of stuff.

Is it just me or is the bass a bit too loud in the mix?

I think that's pretty much my only complaint though...

Thanks again for letting me finally get to hear this IB it was well worth it.

Does it have an insert/lyric sheet? I have only front + back cover scans.

Cool album! I like the vocals quite a bit, and songs like 'soldier' have a really good anthemic feel to them.

I also saw this one go on ebay last year (rattlehead14/Jim's copy I think) but I had never heard of it at that time. Probably couldn't have afforded it anyway :-/

It is a strange title... I wonder if it was a play on 'iron curtain', given that they were soldiers stationed in Germany...?

Anyway, awesome upload Ion, thank you very much! I've learned that I have a high likelihood of enjoying stuff you share here :)

Happy to hear that most of you enjoyed this album. While it's not exactly the hidden gem of US metal, it's far better when compared to other releases of similar rarity.
