Someone should hang!

Post by GJ »

[Well, it seems that we have some "News" from Tank. Moved from Into Battle/Mod.]

Guess this post would be Cold Lake-material if coming from the "band".
Anyway this text below (from the official Tank site) got me quite upset. Could you imagine Doogie White singing The War Drags Ever On or Power of the Hunter or Echoes of a Distant Battle or Hammer On or Walking Barefoot over Glass using the name of TANK. Bloody whores! Let the band rest I guess Algy prefers being down the pub and has given them his blessings, well he's not to rely on. Why don't they use another name, they still could play Tank material (but then Doogie would probably not be interested...). Ugly!
Official Press Release from TANK: "TANK are back in action! The legendary British power metal mercenaries have re-grouped and are ready for battle once more.
The release of the ‘DOGS OF WAR’ boxed set earlier this year was a great success which led to the inevitable re-release of the entire back catalogue (Metal Mind records). This has proved very popular with the die hard fans of old and helped to amass a new army of young fans worldwide. TANK are now very much in demand on the live front after being absent from the touring circuit for several years. With a distinctive attitude and energy to our trademark sound, TANK now have a new all-star lineup, fully equipped to crush everything in their path.
Unfortunately original vocalist/bassist ALGY WARD has decided to retire from active service and concentrate his efforts on writing his long awaited autobiography covering his career with THE DAMNED, THE SAINTS and TANK. We will miss him fighting alongside us and wish him all the best. THE WAR DRAGS EVER ON!
Joining MICK TUCKER and CLIFF EVANS on guitars will be original TANK drummer MARK BRABBS. A very welcome return for the powerhouse skins man. Two new recruits will now be joining the ranks. Ex RITCHIE BLACKMORE’S RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman, DOOGIE WHITE, will be taking care of all vocal duties and ex BRUCE DICKINSON band bass player, CHRIS DALE, completes the lineup.
This new lineup will prove to be a major force to be reckoned with and will add a new dimension to the unmistakable TANK sound, driving them forward, unstoppable into 2009. Prepare for battle! TANK are back!"

I saw Doogie live with Yngwie and he was okay, but Tank IS Argy I'm not a fan of this at all.

Don't know about the debut, but the last few albums Doogie might do a good job on. I'd like to hear this before I judge it.

TANK without Algy is like Witchfinder General without Zeeb
It can be okay or even good but it's not really TANK after all

I am a realist and realize that sometimes members have to be replaced and usually I prefer a band to soldier on instead of quitting just because some long standing member has had enough. But there are exceptions and this is simply atrocious.

It's far worse than that in my opinion. Nothing against Zeeb, but at the end of the day he was just a vocalist. Phil Cope is/was Witchfinder General. Tank without Algy Ward on the other hand... the only comparison I can think of is Motörhead without Lemmy, or Sodom without Tom Angelripper. Or maybe Black Sabbath without Tony Iommi, ha-ha.

I would still be prepared to listen to a new "Tank" album with Doogie White though, it might be good after all, but I will never consider it a legitimate lineup of Tank.

Let's hear it first and then say.....

Tank without Ward is like Pamela Anderson without boobs though.I was listening to the first two lps this morning. Can't imagine White goin' heywire on Shellshock or Power Of The Hunter like Algy did.

On the other hand,we do have Diamond Head without Sean Haris, right? And the new guy is doin' a bloody good job handlin' the mick.Although i REALLY miss Harris..........
