info about SILKFISH needed

Post by Noisenik »

This one is tormenting me for quite a long time.

In the beginning of 90's I remember to read the interview with one British musician (don't remember exactly who, but I think it was connected with Peaceville), who namechecked Silkfish as hopefuls of British scene along with Carcass and Godflesh. They must had been active in second half of 80's. However, they may not be Metal at all.

Anybody knows anything about this band?

I'll check my old issues of the Organ fanzine at home. Sounds like a band that would be included there.

The Organ was a London based "open minded" zine that started out in the mid 80's. They were big fans of all things quirky and original, but also promoted some classic UK metal acts like DEEP SWITCH, BOLT THROWER, SABBAT etc. I discovered it via my CARDIACS-fandom and even contributed with some interviews in the mid 90's (MR BUNGLE and GOD IS MY CO-PILOT)

All the old issues are stored away in a box and a bit out of reach for the moment. The next time I need to dig something out from the storage I'll try and remember to look for the Organs as well.

I remember very well I read clearly - Silkfish not Silverfish. Perhaps interviewer understood it wrong way, dunno. And they could be the same band. I know nothing about them.

SILVERFISH kinda makes sense since they were from the UK and at their most popular around the time in question. Some various SILVERFISH-info here. Incidently I was a big fan of their last (?) album "Organ Fan" back in the days. I can rip & upload the CD if you wanna check it out. Not that it's Metal in any shape or form though...
