Striker (My younger brother's new band)

Post by Nightlock »

I thought I'd share this with you guys, get some opinions etc. It's my younger brother's band "Striker" of which I myself write a lot of material for. It's a three piece with My brother Edward on vocals/all guitar, one of his friends Ross on drums and another new guy called Lockie on bass.

Personally I like it quite a bit, I wrote the song very quickly one day for them (All parts apart from the interlude/solo section which Edward wrote himself). The recording is quite raw which I actually like as if the song was really polished it could come across quite power metal-ish in an undesirable way. It's all pretty accurate to the way I wrote it mainly with the bass and drum parts off just by a little bit (The bass player has only been playing bass for four months). I should also mention they're all pretty young guys and haven't been playing for long: Edward 17, Ross 15 and Lockie 15.

Anyway check it out and comment:

Why does this remind me of Rapid Fire by Judas Priest?

Other then that, I'm not a fan of the vocals; they lack power and are very punk like.

The vocals are ok, but they really lack of power, although I think on some parts the slack, chilled vocals sound quite cool. On the chorus however it's like, OK I'm reading the lyrics now...yeah
Otherwise the music is good, nothing too special but pretty good for the start.

I dig this musically, but as said the vocals really need some more OOMPH for the gravelly style he's going for. But these guys are super young, I look forward to hearing more!
