Heavy Metal MASCOTS!

Post by MEXDefenderOfSteel »

Yesterday while i was having a kickback at my place i noticed Riot "curious" mascot, the mighty "seal-man"...

Which are the best/worst/funniest/ mascots of all the heavy metal universe

btw i have always thought the gamma ray's one is a rip-off from Eddie...

At first i thought you opened a thread about Heavy Metal FAGGOTS, but then i read it more carefully and saw it was MASCOTS

Anyway, Adrian of Running Wild and Eddie are the two that come first to my mind and probably they're my faves.

Two thumbs up also for that Korgull fucked-up thing and Rattlehead.

On the other hand, i always found that Helloween pumpkin a little gay. I don't know if it was that its expressions looked gay quite frequently or simply the fact that using a pumpkin as a mascot in a heavy metal band doesn't fit very well for my likes...

Me? I never was a big fan of eddie or any other mascot. Eddie was cool on Iron Maiden, Powerslave and Piece Of Mind (talking about the covers). Still the band got a whole lot of really ugly shirts imo. Not that there ain't cool ones but most IM shirts I've seen don't really struck me as cool.

I dig "street eddie" the most like on the early single covers.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the pumpkins. The name of the band is Helloween, so why not have a jack-o'-lantern?

Fangface looked way too much like Eddie on the cover of Majestic.

My favourite is Elric of Melniboné on the CU album covers, even if it's cheating on the concept.

OH, and the little STRYCHNINE mouse who is lost in the REDEEMER's forest, wielding the mighty PARADOXX sword might be ideal also, yeah, KALT!

P.S: And the mighty MANILLA ROAD skull follows the sign of the WARLORD(Sword An Shield), watching CIRITH UNGOL'S kneeling skeletons pray...

..and don't forget the snake of the OMEN who bites his tail, and hails the Dark Rider of BROCAS HELM, while MANOWAR'S Warrior without face salutes the Ancient Demon ADRAMELECH..

Not really a mascot, but if memory serves Anvil have an anvil on every one of their album sleeves, with the possible exception of "Backwaxed", i'll have to go check.
It sounds too obvious to work for so long, but i like most of their sleeves, they seem to find interesting ways to use it each time, and you can't knock the music.
With the exception of Motorhead's mascot which predates Maiden's, i can't really think of any proper mascots that work well but don't just seem like Eddie rip offs.
Maybe that's just me, it didn't seem to hurt Megadeth's career any.
