Sauron (Cro) - Demo 88 (HM in the Maiden/ Aria vein)

Post by roihlem »

First demo from Sauron from Slavonski Brod, who recorded 3 demos in the 80`s before they split up due to the war. In the early 90`s they moved to Zagreb and reunited and recorded an album, that has nothing in common with this demo.
Here they copy Maiden with lots of twin guitars. The final track is my favourite because of the great guitar work...

1. Obzorja Gore
2. Par Rijeci Do Nicega
3. Bojana
4. Pakao (Vatre Vas Zovu)
5. A Sta Sad

I'm quite impressed with the opening track, great and very maidenesque work! And, yes, it suffers a bit from the bad drum machine sound, but generally it is a nice demo. Thanx!

This band rules.Maidenish Metal.I have one more perfect Croatian Metal to hear.
Thanx a lot Melhior for the upload.

If you are kind enough can you post some other demos this bands released? It seems i have missed them. :?

Note:The band some SAURON members created called DIES IRAE releasing a demo in 1997 is surpisiingly outstanding.Very good Power Metal reminding of Greek or US late 80's demos.Recommended!

How the CROSSFIRE demo from 92 sounds btw?

Unfortunately I don`t have the other 2 demos, but I listened to them and those were much more Hard Rock sounding...probably I can find a few tracks...
Yeah, I also have that Dies Irae demo and I had a live show of them but I can`t find it anymore
About Crossfire, I posted it here and I guess that you downloaded it back then:

I just did a mistake and noted that demo as a Sauron demo. The demo sounds much more commercial as the first
The story of Crossfire goes like this: Sauron was from the city Slavonski Brod and they split up in 1990. Their guitarist Tony did an instrumental demo, while the vocalist and bassist formed Crossfire. They recorded one demo and got a contract for an album with Croatia Records. But there were a lot of problems, among others that the bassist already moved to Germany, so nothing happened with a Crossfire demo. In mid 92 the bassist returned to Croatia, but this time to Zagreb, and with the singer and also with the original Sauron guitarist Tony (who both moved to Zagreb as well) he reunited Sauron. In this phase they released one professional album as Sauron in 1994, using also some Crossfire tracks, which turned out to be the best on that album. The new tracks were much more commercial sounding like American Glam like Mr. Big if I recall right.
