The Blood

Post by nightsblood »

Anyone familiar with this band? They did a song called 'incubus' that was included on the 'Metal Inferno' compilation. They're one of only 2 obscure bands on that comp and i've never been able to find out anything about them. Thanks for any info; I checked Metal Archives but didn't find an entry

I wouldn't call The Blood Metal, they are a mix of punk, Mteal and other styles. That Incubus song at Metal Inferno is their most metallic song, at least in their Se parare Vex album, which was produced by Cronos if not mistaken.

THE BLOOD's "Se Parare Nex" MLP was the first, really rare HM I went on a desperate worldwide seach for, all thanx to the amazing "Icubus" track on Metal Inferno (which will always be my #1 fave comp). Christ, I almost smooched the guy who finally pointed out there was a copy available at the local record store many years ago

It should be pointed out that THE BLOOD were originally a Punk/Oi band who released an LP and a bunch of singles in the early 80's in this style before suddenly deciding "Shock Rock" was the order of the day. The line "Roll over W.A.S.P. and tell Mötley Crüe the news!!!" from the back cover says a lot. Unfortunately "Incubus" isn't that representative of the sound of SPN, but it's still a great, dark & "wavey" hard rock record that fans of DEEP SWITCH, JESTERS OF DESTINY, MOURNBLADE, THE PLADS etc should check out. Upload in Poisonoise coming up in a few minutes.

This should be a real treat. But are you sure, you haven't heard for PROPHETS OF DOOM - Revelations Of Doom EP yet (asked about in another thread)? :?

thanks for the info! Metal Inferno is a great comp, though I wish it contained more exclusive material (come to think of it, does it have any exclusive tracks?). I'll definitely check out the upload. I always wondered if they were not quite a metal band since I never could find any info on them in metal references.

A 1985 EP of almost metal material from the UK, so it's NWOBHM. :P

WIDOW's "Come To The Sabbath" is exclusive to my knowledge. What I've always wanted to know is if this is RITUAL/WIDOW doing a cover of the old BLACK WIDOW-evergreen or if it's a one-off reunion/re-recording by old BW members. Who's got the facts?

Ritual can be easily recognised by their sound. If it says Widow, it's probably some other band.

Good question Dan; lots of folks have asked about that and I've never heard a solid answer as to just which Widow is on that comp

It sort of make sense if it's RITUAL-WIDOW, doesn't it? They were active at the time and you'd think BLACK WIDOW was a big influence on their sound.

Can you upload the track? I'd like to check it myself.

The band never called themselves Widow so I'm really not sure.

You mean to tell us you don't own one of the most common Metal compilations ever made? I think you'll find the vinyl faster than we could rip and upload it

Actually, I have never seen this vinyl anywhere. I'm only interested in that Widow track.

And apart from the Widow and Blood tracks, I already have all the tracks on the bands own releases.

Yeah, those are the only 2 semi-obscure tracks on it.
I agree that it's probably not Ritual-Widow, but I also don't think the original Black Widow had reformed in any manner during the early 80s. It's not that unusual a name, so I can see another band using the name Widow (there's a power metal band from North Carolina currently using it).

I'd upload the song but I only have it on cassette and I can't go analog-to-digital, sorry.
'Metal Inferno' seems very common in some places, but in other countries you don't see it all that often.

If I have time tomorrow, I'll sit down with Black Widow, Ritual-Widow, and Inferno-Widow recordings and see if i think any of them are the same.
