I'm spinning their Of the Sun + Moon record and yes: completely blown away. This record has it all :
- godlike tracks composed at an insane high level;
- "lost in another world" atmosphere;
- a sound never heard before and after;
- great guitar work and vocals. I even dig the harsh vocals on "Salem";
I have this record quite some time now but couldn't remember its greatness. I'm sure this one will visit my turntable quite often now. Anyone else digging this record (or hate it)? I never heard the demos after this release, are they any good?

100% dead-on! I fucking love that album. I have the lp + the Reborn Classics CD with the demos, though I'm not sure if it includes any later demos.
What was the name of the post-SACRED BLADE band who released a CD a year or 2 ago? It's supposed to be awesome but I still haven't checked it out. I'm always way behind when it comes to new CD releases with cult/classic bands
SACRED BLADE rules, one of the better Canadian bands. Definite CAPTAIN BEYOND influence on those guys (even if they never quite reach the face-pounding metallic heaviness CAPTAIN BEYOND does in "Raging River of Fear").
The demotapes and other recordings (both '80s and '90s) fucking rule...
The new album by OTHYRWORLD is pretty much of the same standard as the old stuff and I recommend it heartily. The only caveat, if you can call it such, is that a lot of the songs are just songs off the old LP re-done. Since SACRED BLADE had good mastery of their instruments when they recorded "Of The Sun and Moon" and their abilities haven't really waned, you get versions of the old songs that are almost in lock-step with the old versions. It doesn't matter, though: the new songs are great, and the old ones are still perfect the second time around.
In my opinion, Sacred Blade is one of the finest moments in Canadian metal and aboard. Their lp is one of my precious jewels in my collection, sadly they split up too early, had too muh to offer to humanity
If anything they showed how important a little originality can be, even in classic 80's Metal. Among 100's of worthy competitors they still stood out as one of the truly great, Forgotten Masters.

Does OTHYRWORLD still exist ?
Do they work on new material ?

Last I know of they do exist, but I have not e-mailed them for many months/more than a year ( ? - I stopped after I got my CD from them). Why, did you hear they broke up? I hope they didn't!
SACRED BLADE's name will probably be reanimated for archival reissues. OTHYRWORLD's name is the one they'll use for their new music from now on... doesn't matter though, OTHYRWORLD is SACRED BLADE - and they haven't declined in quality yet.
I've received today the OTHYRWORLD album "Beyond the Night of Day".
It's very to hear new stuff from SACRED BLADE !!(azaras you're right OTHYRWORLD is SACRED BLADE).
Let's hope, they will release a complete album with all new material !!
OTHYRWORLD is most definitely still around, and both the Of he Sun + Moon and debut Othyrworld CDs are still available (see website below). Full length tracks from both albums are up on MySpace.
I am working on a new album which will hopefully see a release next year and the demos are still planned for official release as soon as I can find acceptable masters.
Live appearances in Europe are also in discussion, although no plans are finalized.
Cheers from Canada and thank you for your support!

I soon as the 5 different albums that I have pre-ordered ( ) are finally released I'm gonna order that Othyrworld album. I always meant to buy that album, but the mailorders selling it asked 20-25 euro's for it...
While I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from buying from a mail order dealer - especially if they are buying more than just our product - but we do sell direct from the band website, and for a lot lower cost than mentioned here. I have a limited supply of vintage Sacred Blade buttons that I also include if you buy both CDs (shipping, which is at or below my actual cost, is the same for 1 or 2 CDs).
The Othyrworld CD is also available through CDBaby.com if that is more convenient.
