Anyone heard the Triarchy or JJs Powerhouse LPs?

Post by nightsblood »

I've seen albums by both these bands listed for sale (recent albums, not long-lost items from back in the day). Has anyone heard them or know anything about them (e.g., are the recordings original ones, or has the band re-done the songs or added freshly-penned material)? I like the singles by both bands and would be interested in these albums if the material is comparable, but I don't want to buy them if they're stuff the band wrote in 2005 or if all the unreleased songs are a completely different style.
Thanks for any info!

JJ's Powerhouse LP features re-worked songs of material written in the '80s.
The Triarchy LP just collects old material from the band.
Both are high quality releases with comparable material.

J.J.'s Powerhouse lp- very very disapointing. Modern production. They ruined their song Blackrods. This lp might make a good 7" single. worst HHO release for me.

I have the JJ Powerhouse single which is excellent. Don't know that LP, but when it has a modern production I hesitate.

Oh yes the JJ Powerhouse single is GREAT but this lp? For me maybe the worst nwobhm reunion album of them all. Though now that I think about it Diamond Head recorded some stinkers. so in the case of JJ Powerhouse lp try to listen before you buy it.

That's like saying you dislike the new Pagan Altar 'cause it sounds too modern.

I've checked it, the clips sound good though.

With modern I mean something like: Listening to the songs on Ample Destruction and listening to the songs on Decade of the Nail Spiked Bat, the modern production and approach totally ruins it for me on the latter.

i have the triarchy cd from vinyl tap and i like it,old stuff like the single if you have heard it.i havnet heard the new JJ power house so i cant tell, the single is killer!! i am very suspicious with NWOBHM reunions, most of them are failures and stuff you cant name heavy metal!! cloven hoof"s last one was a big dissapointement for me for example. Pagan aLtar sounding modern????i dont think so ,they sound like they came from the late 70"s,the guys are really stuck in that period and thats why the band is unique!!!!!!!

The new Cloven Hoof (coming early 2008) should be better. I like most new millennium NWOBHM band material. Only a few have disappointed me.

I agree. The single is great. The album is disappointing. I don't know why they even bothered with it. Aren't there any Quad or JJ's Powerhouse or White Heat demos that could have been released?

Yes, there are. They could make a 2CD anthology with material from all his bands(if you include the singles/EPs.).

Agree totally, the JJs Powerhouse album was not very interesting at all. The production and the whole sound ruined it for me. The Triarchy album was great though. Loved all of it.
