RIPPER!!!!!!

I'm just listening to my Iron Works copy of 'Ripper-And The Dead Shall Rise' & to quote DaN: "oh my DoG what an album"
A 10/10 record for sure!!
I'm just concerned that 'Attack One' (Side One) on my copy is kinda warped???
Not the actual vinyl itself, but the way it sounds???
The guitars sound like they actually slow-down from time to time & the needle kind of slowly drifts from side to side throughout the entire playing of Side One?? I'm just wondering if the intro's to each song on that side is the reason for it, or my copy is fucked?
Does this happen with anyone else..?

Seems your copy got a case of DCS - Dislocated Centerhole Syndrome - a vinyl disease mostly common in Eastern Europe and the South Americas. Actually I once had a copy of RIPPER with the same problem a few years ago. There's Azra for you
The only way to fix it is to take a rat tail file and widen the center hole at exactly the right angle, so that you can position the album correctly on the turntable. Sounds a bit brutal, but it works.

Can't see how it should. It's the record you mess with (or rather "correct"), not the equipment. Then again you could remove the center pin on the turntable and try to place the record exactly right without the help of the pin. Break your stereo or rape your record - it's one or the other.

I actually meant if such a record stays un-fixed and thus can it harm mechanism? As pick-up probably sways while record turns / sways around.

And we all stick to vinyl in spite of its diseases, vinyl is immortal...

Will this in-turn effect Side B possibly?
Did your copy of Ripper do this only on one side?? And how do you know that yours had this problem, what were the telling factors?
Maybe I'll just have to try and get my hands on the Black Widow re-issue & compare????

Yes, the first copy I owned did. I have some ARKANGEL vinyl with this problem on both sides. It's a fucking mess to play

If you notice the pickup arm swaying slightly while playing, this means the hole in the middle isn't properly centered, which in turn leads to a "wavey" playing speed which in turn leads to the music sounding out-of-tune. You'll also notice that this problem gets more audiable the closer to the end of the tracks the pickup is moving.

Well, if you do this procedure you end up with an oval hole which means you basically get 2 different ways of positioning the album over the pin – one for the side that's plays funny (the filed out corner of the hole) and one for the normal side (the untouched corner)
Hope I'm making sense here. It's all kinda hard to describe without pictures.

Practical presentation would be on the spot. It seems pretty difficult and dangerous to me - that whole procedure. In my hands this would mean I have a museum artefact. Korgull, you will inform us how the surgery went.

haha! I don't know if I'm game enough to try and file the centre hole! I don't want to completely ruin it, but then what do I have to lose?????
