Record label released "Backwaxed" and band had nothing to do with it so thats why there's no anvil in it.
I still didn't go check that out, the vinyl is in storage i think.
So there was no anvil on that cover as i suspected, then?
A pity, it would've helped keep thematic consistency.
Damn those meddling record labels! :x
Good call on the Budgie characters (sorry,i forget who mentioned them), some of those sleeves were awesome. Especially the early Roger Dean designed ones like Squawk & Never Turn Your Back On A Friend.
I've actually got a huge vintage '70's poster of the Never Turn... artwork somewhere around here, i must look it out.

They still have him up on stage swinging his axe when they're doing their occational shows. Killer mascot (and brilliant band) if you ask me. I'd like to see more of that stuff from the new & upcoming young'uns.

(No clue about the background story or if it's still the same guy as in the 80's tho)

About the anvil of Anvil, the band is very good friends with some people who own a bar here, so they've played in my city every year for the last three years. At one of those gigs, they actually received a real anvil with their logo profesionnaly carved into it.
I wonder how much extra luggage they had to pay to get back to Canada

Lol.
That's such a great story, and what a nice idea!
As you rightly say though, the excess baggage charge on such an item must've been a biiitch!
