Thanks again Dan for DREAMS & STEEL ARROWS.
I must say that DREAMS didn't impress me at all. As a matter of fact, i found it pretty lame. I'd describe it as a mixture of BUDGIE with some LED ZEPPELIN elements- both are two of my all time loathesome bands, if that's a helpful clue. Those "ooh yeah", "baby, baby, baby" i heard i found them at least disgusting. And as Destozer said, i'm quite surprised you liked this 7''. I'm sorry but the best grade that i can give is 1 sword.
SA were much much better. Better melodies, more metallic, cool leads etc.
Question: Were VIRGIN on that compilation? Man, THAT was a great band! I must upload their tracks anyhow!

Hmm, strange, I will listen again then. But the first Steel Arrows song was really good though!
It's pretty amazing how Sweden spawned so many great but unknown bands back then. I mean, no "average" Metalhead seems to know this stuff, just some die hard collectors. Which, on the other hand, must be very common everywhere and not only here in Sweden.

VIRGIN were on "Four Fabulous Freaks" LP '87. Indeed a killer band well worthy of an upload!ION BRITTON wrote:Thanks again Dan for DREAMS & STEEL ARROWS.

I'd agree with the BUDGIE/ZEPS comparison of DREAM, but they weren't as dated as many other bands with these influences. They sounded more '79 than '71 and that's why they were featured in the 707 article. I guess you'll have to have some tolerance for 70's HR to get into them. I certainly can't get those 2 killer trax out of my head.

Here's my small contribution to this immense topic of obscure Swedish metal. It's VIRGIN with their two tracks on "Four Fabulous Freaks" compilation of 1987. Powerful, pounding metal! Download immediately!

Well, I’ll be the first to agree with you DaN, though I’d maybe only give it 3 swords, not 4. I particularly liked the second track which reminded me a bit of ACCEPT’s debut (a classic in my opinion).DaN wrote:VIRGIN were on "Four Fabulous Freaks" LP '87. I thought STEEL ARROWS were pretty good too. Kind of like SCORPIONS when they were starting to suck but hadn’t completely lost it yet (i.e. 1984).

Here's another excellent single from the glorious swedish metal scene of the 80's. Grave with Screaming for the grave/Dreamer!
