I made a will, the collection will go to the person among my friends that I think would take best care of it.

For me it would be an honor to take care of said friends collection.
It depends on what said friend would have wanted, if he would have wanted me to have it for free, then I would accept it for free, otherwise I would compensate the family with the actual value of the collection.

I guess if I died today then my parents would just ask my friends what to do with them. I don't think I would care too much!

Does it really matter what happens with your collection when you're dead?

I remember once when my mom started mocking like she's doing for the past 20 years constantly ( ) that I shouldn't throw my money out of the window this way and I told her to count 4000 records x 10 Euro, or count 4000 x 20 Euro and most of the records are by far worth more than 20 E. There was silence from her side for 1 minute and then she asked me in return "Don't you want to make an insurance for them?"

I imagine two options (in preference odrer) :

- My daughter love metal and want to keep all my collection (yeah !!!)

- financially assist my wife or my daughter if they decide to sell it. For that, I usually list everything i buy in an excel file to make them a little "price guide". My wife knows the existence of this file.

If I died tomorrow my collection would go to a friend of mine (who loves metal but isn't a 'collector' in any way). I'd rather they sold it and had a good time with the money than it just being stored away collecting dust.

I guess my collection would be stored by my father, he can't get rid of anything.

In theory, I'd like some friends to have some records I'm sure they would appreciate, the rest sold and the profits split like the rest of my assets amongst loved ones.
Biggest problem with that: who would take on the task of selling 4000+ individual items? I'd absolutely HATE to see my collection end up in the hands of a dealer. That's my worst nightmare.

The excel file with values isn't a bad idea actually. Not bad at all.
