How many people constitutes "a mob" anyway?
More than a pack, but less than a crowd
Thus, the two of us will need reinforcements if we're to be taken seriously as a mob. Two doesn't constitute a mob; two is more like a buddy-cop action-comedy movie.
(roll the movie trailer!)....
"One's a no-nonsense British brawler, the other's a wise-cracking university professor. This Fall they'll have to team up and work together in order to take down a ruthless international vinyl bootlegger in the action-comedy hit of the season, CRIMINAL RECORDS 2: METAL TO THE PEDAL. Starring Sean Connery as bigfootkit, Brad Pitt as nightsblood, and some greek guy as the vinyl bootlegger (oh that's right, I Went There- ZING!

)
But enough of that, you round up more fellas, I'll procure the pitchforks, and Kristian is in charge of tracking down the whereabouts of that nefarious blogger

The A-side was pretty ghaihe, but I really liked the crazy proto-Metal-ruckus of "Driving Force". In one way it sounds so totally NWOBHM, but on the other hand it comes with this trademark production & edge that could never ever have been produced outside of the US. Sweetness!

He/she could at least have had the decency to ask permission first. I'm sure I wouldn't have objected.
Now, wait 'till you see this one, Khnud:

"Limited to 15 copies"
Should I feel bootlegged? Quite a few of the singles I uploaded recently are present on that "compilation".
I absolutely
love the fact that he put "The Curling Song" on it.

CLOSE THE GATES!

We need one of those- what do you call them? Sit around and guard bridges all the time.... oh yeah, Trolls! What better way to deal with internet trolls than with a real Live Troll?

Some troll tries to access this forum, and a great, hairy Troll with pointy teeth and a wooden club lunges out and bonks them on the noggin'. Now there's some spyware protection!
Seriously though, they'd still find a way in eventually.
Back in my day of sending tapes back and forth, you didn't have to worry about someone hijacking stuff you sent to others. Although my monthly copy of 'Buxom Canadian Wenches' always seemed to arrive late, hmmm.....

It's really hard to prevent anything from leaking out of forums like this one anymore, what I wanted to do though is to raise the post-limit to 50 for a couple of months and see how many people with 26 posts will start posting again, those imo are not much different than those who register here and in their first post they say "hello, I want mp3s of that album".

The shitty thing about Bounded By Metal, Strappado Metal Blog and others is not that they post things ripped by others, it's that they take donations. I'm ok with file sharing, even if somebody "forgets" that it's not their own rip, but when they try to make money out of it is when it becomes real bullshit.

I don't think they're making much money, but it does suck. Take a look at the donations of really big sites/forums like heavyharmonies for example, they really haven't made much considering all the work, money and time they have invested to run it all these years. I'm not saying that there should be a donation on every occasion, but I'm not all against it either. It depends. Big forums cannot be supported by one person only in any department. Besides, there is someone who does put some money to keep a site/forum online and active after all, those things don't appear magically on the web.

Well, maybe they don't make money out of it, but they're at least trying to. And blogs are for free, so they don't have that excuse. It's not like, let's say, goodbadmusic where the guy has his own server and uploads things he rips himself. Once a year he takes donations to pay the server costs, and once he gathers that amount of money he doesn't take anymore donations. He doesn't do that "donate so I can buy more rare records to upload here" bullshit that I've seen somewhere I can't remember right now.
But I insist that I'm all for filesharing, people in the so called "third world countries" like myself can have a hard time buying legitimate stuff for many reason. High mailing costs, shitty economy, etc. and thanks to filesharing we don't have to pay some scumbag for shitty bootlegs but we can get the music ourselves.
Anyway, I think we've had this discussion many times already and we all sort of agree in most points, so I guess we should keep this thread being about the music.

I think it was strappado himself who said that. Strappado's blog is not the kind of site that needs donations, I'm talking about other sites who do some REAL work of their own, sites with big forums etc.

By the way, that "compilation" was not made to sell it to anyone. The guy who did it just made his own CD-R with downloaded mp3s for himself and as a gift for some friends, so that entry at the musik-sammler page is more or less just a joke. I personally don't think any harm is done here.
