Freedom's Rise is so obviously great, it almost hurts to write it down, i know this album since 15 years, that's half of my life and i still think it's one of the most exciting things on the planet, every song kills, only "Amnesty" is a litte filler, but the rest is so perfect, it couldn't possibly be any better.

Enjoy yer Liege Lord guys, i'm not gonna try and stop anyone.
I'm with Dan though, the song writing is severely lacking, especially on "Freedom's Rise". If I ever listen to Liege Lord it's always "Master Control".

Ha ha... no, obviously I don't "like" KUSTER - no one in their right mind would. Like with WHEELZ OF STEEL, DAMIEN STORM, OVERDETH, the M.E.-crap etc their appeal is not really Metal-related - it's the WTF?!?-factor that makes that stuff fascinating... the normal good/bad/mediocre-scale doesn't enter into it..
OnT: It's mostly the "Freedom's Rise" album that's been disappointing for me, mainly because it's got everything going for it: killer coverart, the right period, the right style... It's just the songs & riffing that leaves me

I will ease your pain Dan, just bring Freedom Rise to the next fair and I will buy it from you.

And I thought I was the only one that wasn't excited with this album.
Couldn't agree more with DaN.

Ha, I wasn't really sure but I just checked and I still have the Black Dragon pressing of "Freedom's Rise" in the collection. I'll need to pick up "Burn To My Touch" & "Master Control" again (I'm sure I've had both before) and give this band one last chance before I write them off. It's not like they're completely awful or anything, they're just filed under "mid-league stuff" at the moment...

I would say the same. Haven't checked the EP yet but Freedom's Rise is one of the best releases in the US field. "Warriors Farewell" is one of those pieces that are too good to be true.

I decided to download this and check this band out since I hadn't heard them before (I knew about them of course) and I must say it doesn't do anything for me. I wouldn't say it sucks, is just that I liked the style and sound but didn't like the songs and riffs. I'm gonna give it one or two more chances but I don't think my opinion is gonna change.

You should listen to the album versions instead, much more powerful!

That's my fave too. I like the Michaud albums quite a bit, but they're not that memorable for some reason. Anyway - thanks to DP for the upload!

The first Liege Lord album belongs in my US Power Metal top 15 as well. Such FIERCE and POUNDING album. Wielding Iron Fists and Amnesty are my favourite tracks on it. I think the two follow-ups are generally more liked but while they're ok they miss the same power, anger and passion that Freedom's Rise possess imo. I never got to hear this MLP so I'm going to check it out now but I fear there's no way these versions can top those on the debut album.

Ha! My favourite one from the album!
The lyrics alone are so powerful, you already know by just reading them that this would be something 101% METAL
Iron fists it's terror twists you've yet to feel it's gleam insist
So join the lines to keep in time it's iron wields from armoured wrists
You're drawing near you must compare the clash of fighting iron fists

That's from "Wielding Iron Fists", which is the opener, we propably mean the same song, "Amnesty" can't really be your favourite here, right?

I was generally speaking about the lyrics, I know their from "Wielding Iron Fists"! Honestly, "Amnesty" is my favourite one! The maidenic melody before and after the second verse always tears me to pieces whenever I hear it!

The album is a goddam classic with the most powerfull lyrics ever written, let us settle for that and continue the debate about details at the KIT
