I have nothing against people listening to to modern metal or else, but they dont have to tell me what is right or wrong and how that and that has to sound like
I started with Slayer show no mercy but I had a strong punk background which helped a lot I guess and the nice person in question is sort of a geeky anime / RPG dude with a christian background. Maybe I'll throw in some rightous shit too , ha

He's not annoying in a way, then I wouldnt care much. Just a bit juvenile and weird in some parts, while interested and open minded in others

Sounds like he needs a Melt Banana secret hidden bonus track 5 mins after the last song.

I don't agree. What 'is not' can always come. Back when I discovered metal a decade ago I bought ONE cd every month (also cause I didn't have a lot of money), and what I bought was pretty mainstream (atleast for people on this forum). It's only thanks to (or: despite of when I look at my bankaccount hehe) people who wanted to share their knowledge and collections with me that I am where I am now.

Reminds me of this time an old friend of mine got a request from one of his classmates to make a mix-tape of this "new & exciting Death/Black Metal-thing". This was some time around 1990-91 and my friend was about as die-hard, underground, "anti-posers" as you'd get back then and was more than happy to make the guy a tape. With MEAT SHITS, 7 MINUTES OF NAUSEA and ANAL CUNT demos only. What a poetic way to say 'eff-U...

just start with some more known stuff, don't overdo it with obscure songs. He might recognize some names and it will make it easier to listen to for the person i question.

OK by the way I'm open for suggestions and name dropping for inspiration.

Hm, but which one? :? I have a certain love for many of their recordings their did.

Maybe a retarded one from "Rrröööaarrr"? "Korgüll The Exterminator" or "Fuck Off And Die"? It was one of my first metal records and I still have a deep feeling for this platter.

I think despite the band's quite known in metal business he will blown away by their strangeness, for sure he never heard such stuff before

Something from Nothingface?

Total weirdness for a first time listener

Something off Rrroooaaarrr or KT will just sound like noise to him.

History learns that taping metal for people who listen "metal" never ever works, at least here, so don't bother.

well if he is willing to try new things that is a good sign, most people won't go out of their comfort zone and that is one of the main problems, but I find myself trying to make mixes for various people and it usually never works as you have pointed out, they either dis-guard it, add it to their list but continue you listening to mediocre bands or they just don't get it, what I hate though is when you show someone a band and they ignore it, but if they find it on their own they rave about it to no end and won't shut up about it and its like what the hell I tried to show you this band years ago.
