Whoah, Kenny, Megathanks! I'm curious about that Synastryche band or sth. Agree with you about uploads ... I think this one as well as some others should be protected.

I see your point but I don't think these particular bands are on any bootlegger's to-do list. The question if everyone "deserves" to hear everything is a subject for another thread tho'Noisenik wrote:Agree with you about uploads ... I think this one as well as some others should be protected.

Doesn't solve the problem. Anyone who got the pw could still spread the mp3s far & wide. And I don't even wanna think about all the squabble that will emerge when new members start bitching about not getting the pw they asked for...Avenger wrote:Just throw a password on it and send via PM to those that want it.
Think of this forum as a small, local radiostation. Everthing that's uploaded here can be heard by a small group of locals, but eventually it will find its way to the larger, worldwide "stations" (TM anyone?). It's merely a matter of time. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, since a lot of this stuff is uploaded just for the reason of spreading the word of a great, forgotten band.
What I personally think is most important is that the music shared here leads to great discoveries and discussions on the forum. From that perspective it doesn't really matter if some über-obsküre demo finds its way onto the supernet, since it will drown in the ocean of other über-obsküre demos that doesn't have a forum of devoted Metalheads to care for it.
still, I don't like the way ppl get obscure things (very easy) and share them elsewhere and make themselves a name there while being a plain leecher. Bah, I won't bother you with that topic anymore.
It's not only about what was found but also where it was found. TMGDN became "pay for service" site, while it doesn't possess any depth - it's not real forum IMHO. The Corroseum is waaay more mature, perhaps the most mature of such sites. Of course, you may say, that Metal was never about maturity, but mind you, our beloved genre is way past its adolescent years!

I am ... the One you warned me of
I agree, TM has become the new napster...
What a way for the admin of that forum to fill his pockets for material that he had nothing to do with uploading in the first place.

That Sinister track is godly!Helm wrote:Also, Sinister are pretty fucking awesome. Like a lost Omen track with a different sort of vocalist, constant barrage. Very enjoyable. I will hunt those two demos.
Some of the guitar playing on it reminds me of Coroner...

(catching up on leaving feedback today)
Nice comp; I think Raging Grace and Centurion were my 2 favorites. The Centurion was a little different but interesting.
2 quick cents about leeching...
1- I understand why it's frustrating to old-timers to see people spread their material, but remember that once upon a time all the old-timers were also wide-eyed newbies starved to hear all the cool, obscure stuff. I know I used to bug folks with questions about bands, records, and prices for obscure items all the time... heck, I still do
Personaly I try to share what I have/know with others, but also ask others for stuff I don't know/have. I would guess that extremely few people have gained all their knowledge about this, or any other, hobby strictly through their own, original research & experiences.
2- While it would be nice for online leeches to acknowledge where they swipe stuff from when they pass it on, that could quickly start to sound like some kind of Viking warrior lineage. "I Nightsblood do deliver unto you this rip of 'Savage Wombat Armageddon', which was bequeathed unto me by doomedplanet, which was unearthed by him from The Corroseum, which was delivered there by Ion Britton, whom obtained it from Dirty Rocker, whom digitized a vinyl copy that he got from Larry, who once did date the hot sister of the band's second drummer." That could get tedious
The leech may not give you something in return, but if they're re-posting the material they are at least sharing it with others.
