I was thinking, this came out in '85 (same year as Walls of Jericho) and power metal doesn't really get any more powerful than this. I guess it's the lack of constant speed that doesn't make this an often-cited example of the form. But a lot of US power is rugged, slow and determined. There's power (and Power) without constant speed, damn it!

I insist that the combination of the, uncommon for US metal, heaviness and slowness of the songs along with some of the ominous/''black-hearted'' lyrics (for instance Stop the race) gives the album a doomy character at some moments. The lack of speedy songs rather adds than takes points on this particular album.

Haven't heard this album for years, remember it being quite good, give it a spin this weekend

Stop the Race is the standout track in here for me.
Right! stop the race and fight for your life the best tracks...not a high pitch vocalist, but still execellent in what he did...i knew this band because of Twisted Sister, you know the drummer right?

Cruel Sea is the best for me and it is only in the LP Metal Blade version!!
