I think that this has been discussed here and the results weren't so great, hence my "Dani Filth" comment because if I'm not mistaken he has something to do with the material they are currently putting out.xr2m wrote:Wow... not at all what I ever expected, but hopefully the music will do the talking instead of the photos.
However, if you look at old pics, Hell had a somewhat "theatrical" look, so I'm not totally surprised they continued with that today. Let's just hope the music isn't modern like the pics.

Dani Filth was only going to do a spoken intro to one of the songs, but from what I understand he never did in the end.
The photos look like the old photos I have seen of HELL. They're "evil" and a bit silly.
What the hell is a "modern" photo anyway? One that was taken with a digital camera?

Haha... I just meant more "modern" makeup/styling. Reminds me of something you'd see from a Dimmu Borgir photo shoot.MEXDefenderOfSteel wrote:im not sure, but i think they got the same photographer/stylist from Celtic FrostThe_Elite wrote:A photo taken by Andy Sneap?mordred wrote: What the hell is a "modern" photo anyway? I'm still very interested in hearing the new stuff, though.
I just did a quick re-read of this thread and it appears that you are right.mordred wrote:Dani Filth was only going to do a spoken intro to one of the songs, but from what I understand he never did in the end.
I'm still wondering if the old Hell material will ever see the light of day again in the form of hard copy media.

I'm looking forward to this release. Their have been a few people I know of that have heard it and are very positive about it. As for their early material, hopefully after all the "hype" blows over Miskatonic will get the opportunity to release something. If I remember correctly it was suppose to be a triple lp and a cd boxset.

OK - time for me to intervene again, methinks. Thanks to all who have commented (either positively or negatively) - your opinions are valued and respected as always, if a little misguided at times....... A coupla points;
1 The album is finished, mixed and we're looking for a label deal right now. Anyone who has any doubts as to its quality and originality should speak to Rich Walker - as one of a tiny handful who have heard the finished article and specifically as one who champions the cause of original releases, his opinion is one which carries considerable weight. Rich has already passed judgement on the appropriate thread on the MetalIreland forum, so check that out. It has been described (by eminently knowledgeable observers of the metal scene) as 'world-class' - although modesty prevents a comment from me.
2 Dani Filth is no longer on it. His voiceover was replaced by mine.
3 Martin Walkyier's no longer on it. All the lead vox were re-recorded using David (my brother) who sounds so much like Halliday it's scary. This, again, was done specifically to make the band sound like HELL and not Sabbat.
6 The cover artwork has been changed because we were let down at the 11th hour, it will still be killer, although previous opinions expressed on here preclude me from mentioning the name of the artist for fear of negative reaction based on prejudice and not fact.
6 I reiterate that the original material WILL be made available, although there is still no decision relating to the format - that's largely a function of the record company we end up being signed to.
6 The snapshots shown on this forum are just 3 out of almost 1,300 we did, and are thus not especially representative of what we're all about. Theatrical, self-depracating and silly - yes. Industrial and emo - no.
I'm incredibly conscious about the ongoing delay, but all concerned feel that this album is good enough to wait for a deal which is 100% right for us, and for you. We're not interested in just bunging out a minority release, we want this to be heard by the widest possible audience, we want to do some shows, the whole nine yards. Thanks again to all for your continued interest, and to all those who have posted less than positive comments - vive la difference, your opinions are just as valid as anyone else's.
Cheers to all
Kev Bower

Well, the dreadlocks are more nu-metal than emo/industrail, I'll give you that. Perhaps it's not emo or industrial, but when I think of such horrible bandpictures, those two genres came to mind. And the pictures posted in this thread are in the same vein, aka terrible.
Good stuff about the vocals though.
And as always: OLD/ORIGINAL MATERIAL=VINYL

Hi,quietus wrote:The pictures are fine, more polished than before but who cares. I am eagerly awaiting the new stuff and of course we are all awaiting the old material which is beyond description. For me the band deserves the utmost respect but what do I know.
An introduction would be nice.
