It's good to know that at least there won't be any strike next week.
It all depends on the volcano and the winds now, problem is that the cloud is moving south...fuck, can you believe all this shit is happening THIS week?

Delays and chaos always follow flight cancellations and now tens of thousands of passengers are stranded all over the world and want to get home immediately.
It's gonna take a miracle now. Flight companies sound awfully optimistic but that's because they have to. The worst case scenario is unthinkable for them because it means their doom. They are talking about planes in the air on Monday as the soonest, which is because there is no way of telling anything any further than Monday. Tomorrow it will probably be Tuesday as the soonest and on Sunday it will be Wednesday as the soonest and so on. Unless that miracle happens of course, which it eventually will but we have to be incredibly lucky for it to happen just within a few days.

Still, the flights that are being cancelled these days will be the first in the priority. And we're talking about hundrends of flights. That means that if the atmosphere is clear on Monday, the flights that were cancelled last Wednesday will be made first, then all those that were cancelled on Thursday and so on. I don't think it's realistic to believe that we're gonna be able to land on german ground before Friday/Saturday to say the least.

For me, certainly not. It's up to the organizers to decide if the fest will be cancelled or at least postponed for a week or so, the latter doesn't seem very seem very likely to happen, I assume most bands are not on tour, they have their day jobs and will have to get back to their country asap.Khnud wrote: Question is: is it worth taking the 14 hour trip by car just to find out that half the bill has been cancelled?

I would go even if half the bill were to be cancelled. I'll still have 2/3 the fun, meeting old comrades, the Metal Market etc...Khnud wrote:Question is: is it worth taking the 14 hour trip by car just to find out that half the bill has been cancelled?
If flying is out of the question it depends though.. Driving there will be exhausting, but not 100% out of the question for me personally (We drove to HOA last year..)
Better start looking into train/buss alternatives..
