I like (older) Trouble quite a bit, but never liked the singing very much.

To me being able to enjoy Count Raven very much depends on the mood I'm in, otherwise they can be quite dull. Sometimes rather cheesy too, haha! (coming from the right mouth!)

Do you know of Gjallarhorn with members from Doomsword? Also check out another Italian band by the name of Thunderstorm especially their Sad Symphony and Witchhunter Tales albums.

I used to listen to FALKENBACH a lot, especially "Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri" is damn good and my favorite viking-BATHORY-clone. Others are SCALD, the first DOOMSWORD album and ATLANTEAN KODEX, the usual suspects i guess.

Not my favorite subgenre, the viking lyrics can bore me to death, if you know one, you know them all.

Yeah, I was talking more so the Viking crap.

I love Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Count Raven, Trouble, etc.
Who doesn't love that stuff?
Me. I don't like COUNT RAVEN at all and the only thing I like from TROUBLE is their debut. Stone me!
Do you mind if I ash you instead? Got plenty of that in the air.

I'm not into the whole epic/viking scene. Ereb Altor sounds like a third rate Bathory with hardly any proper doom at all.

Really? For me this was already way too "melodic" in a weird Disney-cheesy way. The debut is amazing though!

I have to admit , for BATHORY-clone I really like Iuvenes with "Riddle Of Steel" and "When Heroes Will Rise", both something between Blood Fire Death-Hammerheart and on the second one occasional debut and The Return breakouts too. Just not as well written & performed ofcourse, but honest and pretty charming nonetheless

Well maybe the sound is a bit cleaner on the second, but overall a pretty amazing album in my books, melodic is not automatically bad :D

Actually when i first heard it, my thoughts were "maybe that's how Quorthon always wanted to sound like, when he started the whole viking thing"

Uh oh, shouldn't have said that, now i am the heretic!

I've heard one JUVENES album, can't remember which one it was, it was basically a shameless rip-off of Blood Fire Death, music with zero personality. Even the order of the track was similar. I personally don't need any of this.

Yup, and Reverend Bizzare, I'd put them both into Heavy Traditional Doom, rather than pure doom. I have Saint Vitus Born Too Late and Mournful Cries and the band does it's best on these discs. I think Doom/Death is popular just because of the bands which fall into that bracket of genre and traditional doom's vocals are what most people are uncomfortable with.
