Here's a MASTER'S HAMMER track to begin: Lithographic Calendar, one of their best tracks IMO:

Is that the song on the "Vine Of Satan" compilation?

Here's a Metallic Masterpiece I really think you should check out: The incredible "The Ironsides" by the band IRONSIDE, taken from a Swedish local compilation from 1983. A perfect amalgamation of The Raw and The Epic. No other recordings are know by this band.

You're right, it is the song from The Wine of Satan compilation. One of the only unreleased tracks on this one.

And thanks for your swedish rarities. I'll listen to this one right now!

I once compared the version on "Wine.." with the "Jilemnicke.." demo version and they sounded like they could be the same recording, but the "Wine.." version sound slowed/pitched down. Who's got the facts?

I'm also curious if the 2 MH cuts on the "Annihilation Of The Antichrist " comp LP are taken directly from the demos. I haven't heard that much of a difference when comparing them.

Excellently odd. The bleeps make it even more disconcerting. Thanks!

Some more essential FWOSHM-history from various obscure compilations..

IQ ZERO (Pang I Bygget comp LP 83) - 1 murderer.mp3
IQ ZERO (Pang I Bygget comp LP 83) - 2 evil.mp3
Trust me, "Murderer" will make your day. We need more choruses like these in Metal!

THE DUKE - 1 fighter (Drag Utan Droger II v-a LP 81).mp3
THE DUKE - 2 street survivor (Drag Utan Droger II v-a LP 81).mp3
As far as I know the earliest example of pure raw & hard Metal put to vinyl in Sweden.

WITCH (Helgdagsrock Åt Far comp LP 83) - 1 evil night.mp3
WITCH (Helgdagsrock Åt Far comp LP 83) - 2 white death.mp3
Probably the best material ever recorded w/ the band (they had several demos both before and after this session). The riffing in "White Death" is incredible!

Done! (see original post)
Would be really cool to see some opinions on SNÖFALL from the 70's-style Heavy fans here. I can't believe it's just patriotism on my part that makes me see something quite special there..

I had it all planned out..

On the 28th of August I was going to start this "It was 25 years ago today.."-thread and upload these 2 delightful little tunes, recorded on the date in question, but of course I overslept the date and so you have them here in a somewhat less dramatic manner.

This is from yet another Swedish mixed comp LP that recently came to my attention: "Rock 82 - Vetlanda". The band of interest: GREENSLEEVES.

Discovering old & utterly obscure vinyls like this means as much to me as finding unknown & unlisted Metal singles. So there might be even better stuff out there on forgotten compilations, but the sheer ENERGY and SPIRIT of bands like this encompasses just about everything I love about early 80's Metal. I give thee..
