The story behind the cover...

Post by DaN »

Inspired by Nicko's rant in Poisonoise. Post them pics & storm those brains, folks!

Nicko McBuff wrote:The cover art is awesome. It's pretty simple to work out... the rocker, he must of fucked every one of those half naked Amazon women. After they found out and fought amongst themselves for a bit they regrouped and went to go vent their rage upon him. They found him rocking out in a pit of fire that was created by his awesome riffing. Naturally death has just dropped by because someone is going to die, the casual eye might think he's about to take the rocker away but I reckon he's out to take the Amazon's because the rocker is about to school them to death with the power of metal.

The band members obviously couldn't finish Pools Of Radiance ( http://games.holyfile.com/upload/screenshot876-1.png ) on their Commodore 64 so they went on to vent their frustration this way.

I feel for the band. I always felt utterly frustrated after playing Pool of Radiance for awhile. on my ole trusty C=64

I always thought it was inspired by Gauntlet (from 1985): Image.

And since No Exit was released in early 1988 and Pools Of Radiance also in 1988 they didn't get a proper time (or perhaps none at at all) to play the game.

...but it's true, we're getting off-topic here. Gotta go through some records tonight and see if there's still some imagination left in this ol' brain-thing.

You are much to young to remember the C64-era, so you're either faking or you had a serious deficit on pocket-money
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

Best fucking game ever! I played it over and over as a kid and have returned to it every once in a while just to play it through in 45 minutes. Now it has been 7 or 8 years. I'm planning to try and forget the whole thing so maybe once I can have the enjoyment of figuring it all out again! :D

 I loved Pool of Radiance! However, I definitely think that No Exit looks more like it was inspired by one of the early Ultima games.

Getting back on topic, I don't have any witty cover stories of my own, but a long time ago I posted the cover of Aryon – Rebels of the Night in the worst covers thread and Levi suggested that the little girl had locked the band out of the house and was on the phone selling all their gear while they looked on helplessly.
