Non-urgent CD questions (READ OP!)
I contacted him awhile ago and he said that I can have one copy. While waiting for him to calculate the shipping he said that he sold all of them. I don't really know what to believe because once he said that
a) 92 pressings are all gone (maybe he meant the very 1st press)
b) all two previous reissues were made in 92
So I guess that all of those copies that he had to sell prior to this latest reissue must have been the ones from 1992.
As for the quality, at least from the pictures here on ebay it seems that those older pressings had better quality. I already asked Dan about it ...
What is the matrix of the 1st / early press???

Yeah, my auctions had a few let downs but this CD is also scratched up a bit which I mentioned. Perhaps that was why? I sold it for $45.00 "By It Now" to one of the dudes that was bidding on it originally. Reserve price auctions don't always work out for the best.

Why don't one of you guy’s just contact me for details about the original Entropy? The only reason I won't spread such details publicly is because we don't need bootleggers making identical matrix "Ashen Existence" CD's. Yes, it was made in the same "DISQUE AMERIC" plant as the old Fringe CD's. It also has a silver ring around the clear plastic part where the matrix is visible from both sides. The disc itself is of that thick heavy plastic early CD style, the kind that can't be reproduced anymore it seems and there is no IFPI Code. Keep in mind that all CD's prior to 1994 didn't have one.
Either way, yes, there is finally a re-issue that's similar but I think that in the end these stories about 2nd, 3rd re-pressings from '92 are bullshit. This band was never big enough and far too obscure to have that kind of demand from the fans to warrant re-pressings.
People make up a lot of stories in attempt to cover up the truth and hide information from collectors. Look how many people paid $180-$300 for re-issues before the word got out about it? It was all just a blanketing tactic that I think the guy made up so that he can't be blamed for taking advantage of people.
I believe that there are two pressings of this CD, the original from 1992 and the re-press/re-issue from 2009.

Well, actually Dan put his first auction in place a few weeks AFTER several sealed CDs were sold on eBay by other people in a short period of time - plus he said that his first auction was the last one from the original pressings and that he IS WAITING for the new re releases and it will still take a few weeks. Not that he has them already. So, if Dan is to be believed, the new re-releases did not exist at the time the CD started popping out frequently. The other options are - he didn't tell the truth or someone else was also making a repress. But those other guys stopped selling now. At least some Entropy CDs sold in the last 3 months or so were 1992 pressings (gojira, the austrian guy omlutzi or something).Avenger wrote:Look how many people paid $180-$300 for re-issues before the word got out about it? I agree with those saying there are only two pressings, the original 1992 one and this 'new' one which somebody tried to sell as the first press...
Luckily there is this forum and we can know the truth
Second cd I didn't like a lot, I remember I tried to find it for at least 1 year after going crazy for "Ashen..." (I even posted a song in the ThrashList.com back in time), but it was a disappoint in the end.
