Regarding top rarities, ebay, and popsike.... some other things to keep in mind:

-what condition were the copies in? People often forget to check this with popsike listings. If it looks cheap, maybe it wasn't in top shape

-when did the auction occur? Some of the big rarities keep going up in value. The most recent Paradoxx I see on popsike is a year and a half old. There's a yellow Avatar on popsike that sold for $1,500... in 2004. I doubt you could get one for twice that today.

-were there weird stipulations on the auction? (poor seller feedback, "only ships within the US", won't accept paypal, etc)

-Copies do change hands w/o going through these outlets, and popsike doesn't record all auctions; even the high-dollar ones sometimes slip past. Paradoxx had sold multiple times off-ebay in the $2,000++ range.

Rest assured Sgt knows what he's doing :)

Bottom line: it's very hard to pin down a 'normal' value for these Top Rarities, especially well-known, highly desirable ones like Paradoxx, Militia, and Avatar. Everyone knows these and would love to have them, the print run is CONFIRMED to be 100 or less, and the band was tapped for copies long ago. These will never show up in quantity and there will always be people wanting them, at least until we all ditch metal and switch over to rap or country music

Way ahead of you there. Look out for my next post in 'Collectors Porn', I'll have some reel to reels of Grand Master Caz, Professor Griff live tapes, Whoodini mixtapes and Geto Boys bootlegs.

Yes, you are right on most accounts, but from what I've noticed, unless there is specifically tremendous damage to the item, most people that bid on ebay don't seem to care much about minor conditional flaws. In fact the most expensive documented copy of Paradoxx was in inferior condition to some of the cheaper ones auctioned later on. Once again, I'm not bashing kuntz, I was really just interested in knowing what something like this goes for now a days. Like I said, that's the most I've personally ever seen the record go for.

True, condition doesn't always factor in the way you'd expect. Ebay can be really random; a record sells for $25 on Thursday, $450 on Friday. Sometimes there's just no reasonable explanation.

It's safe to say that a nice copy of Paradoxx will sell for $2,000++ currently. Now watch the next one on ebay go for $1,300

Finally found my way down to Solna for a record fair again after many-a-year this past weekend.

Got a few pretty neat items with me back north:

Bleak House - Suspended Animation LP
Vanadium - Seventheaven LP
Gallows Pole - In Rock We Trust LP (bad condition, but pretty cheap)
Ready To Fire - Compilation LP
Ace Lane - See You in Heaven LP (Mausoleum)
Some CD's by Gillman (you were right about the title track Dan!), Drifter, Serpent Saints (kind of sucked, these) and Rotor...

Some older Hard (?) and Pomp Rock stuff also:
Rose - A Taste of Neptune (Yippee!!!!), Hush, Nutz (first two), Roadmaster, Carlsberg, Diamond Reo, Shooting Star, Touch...

Next time I need to bring some money with me...

Crap, I missed this one. Who was selling it?

Speaking of that fair - I don't think I've ever been so glad about a record fair being over. I've spent night & day of the last 2 weeks going through my entire non-Metal collection, ripping the goodies, checking conditions + pricing it. Yes, I finally made that omnious decision to sell off "all that old crap I never listen to". Time will tell if it's something I'll regret or not. I had to drive all this crap from Västerås to Stockholm, and through the awful Stockholm traffic in the worst weather of the year - and the logistics of finding a safe place to put a car full of records over the weekend was just too complicated to get into..

Anyway, I sold like a motherfucker (almost €1500 - KIT Metalmarket here I come!) I could hardly leave my table though, so no time for those infamous Edman-finds. Apart from an extra copy of ZONE ZERO for €9 I mostly overpaid for some stuff I got tired of finding for a decent price. The score:

BITCHES SIN - The First Temptation LP (splatter vinyl)
DARK LORD(Ita) - s/t MLP
IMPERATOR - The Time Before Time LP
PHANTOM LORD - Evil Never Sleeps LP
RAZOR - Escape The Fire LP (demo bootleg)
SINNER - Wild & Evil LP
STEEL CROWN - Sunset Warriors LP
V/A - Lethal Noise LP
V/A - Pure Overkill LP
etc..

Someone said to me at the fair,

- I´m hunting for the rare records but it seems like the rare ones hunting Dan.

I have not played it yet. When I get one of these wants I usally
wait for the "right moment" before I play them, I think I have to get me some nice Italian Red wine and kick out the family from the house so that I can turm the volume knob to 11.

Today I finally got one of my other wants
