'' Stolen Names"

Post by lunaboy »

Well.Ive noticed that back in 80s a lot of bands "stole" their names/monickers from songs of well estabiished artists. And who's the winner? I think JUDAS PRIEST is the band a lot of young lads used their songs as band name...

Let's see...

Off the top of my head, songs that inspired band names:

Deceiver
Exciter
Steeler
Rage
Running Wild
Sinner
Tyrant

Which am I missing?

Don't forget the mighty Black Sabbath though. There's tons:
Iron Man
The Hand Of Doom
Solitude
St. Vitus (Dance)
Heaven and Hell

to name a few.

Can't remember anything similar. But were Revelation active back in the 80's? I thought the question was about 80's bands.

Yes, they actually recorded an album to be released in 1988, but it wasn't released until this year. :D

There was a Greek band by that name during the early to mid 80's. They never recorded anything as far as I know, just some gigs, playing Black Sabbath covers (what else?), and perhaps some of their own stuff.

You are probably right, there was a compilation that they were included in, now that I think of it.

The history of the early years of the Greek metal scene is hazy. Where early years = the years before the publication of Heavy Metal magazine (then named Heavy Metal/Metal Hammer, now simply Metal Hammer).

What was its price?
