Agreed! Apart from 'Warm Silly Days'/'Parental Guidance' (your 40 years old for gods sake!) I can't resist Turbo.....surely 'Turbo Lover' is an EPIC track? Machine gun sound at end of guitar solo INTO -> increased volume verse. Le incredible.

Also the video for 'Locked In' is better then IJ 'Temple of Doom'. It includes the distraction of a possessed obese child with a Twinky.

Not by (what should have been) their standards though?

I find Ram it Down (the song) acceptable (and quite good) also Blood Red Skies had some potential from what I remember. I need to listen to this one again for sure.
'Hard as Iron' obliterates anything in sight. My favorite JP tune along with 'The Sentinel'.

In more recent releases we have the opening track of Immortal Avenger - Valor and Justice.

So I'll add:

This topic has been going for almost four years and no one is yet to mention the 1988 Swiss offering "Ten Thousand Years" by Bloodstar. Not quite unlike what Bathory did a year or two later.

Truly one of the heaviest, most Epic songs of all time, but I didn't thought of mentioning them coz they never really were Metal - or at least they never thought of themselves as such according to an ancient interview I did with with the band. That being said, I can't imagine ANYONE into the Epic/Doom sound not liking their divine debut LP.

Yes I can! ---> [instantly playable DivShare link]
Ripped from the vinyl coz I like the mix better than on the Red Decibel CD issue.

...and the Glorious, Majestic lyrics:

Have you seen the jewels of Golgatha,
Shining brighter than the Stars of North
Have you seen the vast deserts of Saba
Piercing your heart like a glimpse of eternity

Have you seen the ruins of Karnak
And felt how great a man's mind can be
Have you known that perfection is understanding
And that to understand you only must love

I have wandered the infinite forests
And let the emerald green be a part of me
I have fought the white wolves in winter
And seen the sun go down in blood-red snow

I have climbed the high mountains of Tibet
Where the beauty of nature hurts like agony
I have been to the holy city of Jerech
But all their Gods ment nothing to me

My heart feels
Like a cold block of stone
My past is lost
And my fire is broken
The time I was free
Is long forgotten
But in every hill
I still live

Thanks!

It's not as bombastic as BATHORY but there are similarities in the sound definitely. Is this reissued on CD? I'd be interested in hearing the entire thing.
