I never registested there, some sporadic visits only. Not sure if this was exactly the picture, but my general impression (and one of the main reasons I never bothered to register) was that there were about 100.000 threads about Pagan Altar and UK metal, both of which were discussed to death. I think there was some serious lack of variety of topics. Even the godliest of things can become boring and tiring even for the die-hardest of fans after a certain point. In my opinion anyway.

The discussions on sport were livelier than the ones on metal hah. And I hate sport. A lot of the other posts were of the fuck those other posers we're the best variety, and for a while I was one of those idiots too. There were some good people on the board, but also some 'tards. And it was such a slow moving board it was damn boring, it was more a place for actual band and LP info than getting into any discussions resembling interesting. And I had one too many falling outs with Rich after which he kicked me off, he told me I had to be quiet or get kicked off, so I basically said shove-it - I'm not playing bow to the master to anyone, metal should be about honesty and not honesty WITHIN A CERTAIN FRAME-WORK or sucking up to bitter old men who manufacture truths to fit their own needs.

Very wrong! I think the only problem with the Miskatonic board was the fact that there was too many sub-forums. Conversation seemed sparse because posts were split between them. It was a great place though, and it will be sorely missed. Here's hoping it makes a return.

Split the Gathering-discussion to WMOD since the idea is both awesome and off-topic

Excellent timing.

Didn't even notice the board was off, I just read it once in a while.

have been a miskatonic board member since 2 URLS ago and even though lately indeed there was very little discussion going on i ll miss it if it goes down forever.
truth be told this is a much livelier forum, maybe thats why Rich got sick of it and killed it.even though i think Kai doomboss was also an admin and actually ran the php from his Mannheim HQ?
well,we''ll see

Miskatonic was probably the first Metal forum I ever signed up on and together with Mr. Kogler/Metalhunter's site the best resource for Underground Metal news/trivia for many years. That bitter, elitist fockuff vibe was always part of the charm, even if plenty of in-jokes and TrueDoomDrama tended to go over my head. I agree w/ Barry though, the weird subforum-dilution of later years = crazy. (though occationally very funny  )

If it's more than a momentary lapse of motivation I'm hoping some of the regs and/or label people will pick up where Rich left off. Wouldn't mind an Iron Codex or Metal Supremacy forum.

I enjoyed the Profanisaurus on there. I even coined a few and came up with the phrase TERRORWRITER.

Hopefully it will come back at some point

They do have a penchant for banning a fair amount of people there. Maybe they banned themselves into non-existence, leaving nobody unbanned to even converse with one another. Even I was banned (for something I said on a different forum no less).

Rich is a two-faced twat. Sure people can argue that point, but the amount of people whom I've talked to in private, face to face or via PM:s who disagree with him but don't want to say it publically begs to differ. And like I've said before, I'm not scared of a fat out of shape 40-year old who thinks online threats can deter people. And I've met Rich a few times.

I flew-by every once in a while and even registered at one point but the metal content was lacking and from my viewpoint, too focused on more modern bands that I found rather uninteresting.
