Vas- cool pics! I still get my Overlords all mixed up
Are any of those releases by the North Carolina band that was on Metal Massacre 8?
Snu-: very cool pics! Among the non-metal pics, I love the one with the duck looking at the camera
Re: Witchfinder General, 'Friends of Hell' came on clear vinyl, black vinyl, picture disc, and silver 'mirrored' vinyl that came without a cover (as someone else noted, it looks like the 'Music' 7"). Those are the only 4 versions I know of. 'Death Penalty' came in 5 variations: red vinyl, blue vinyl, clear vinyl, black vinyl, and picture disc. Other color variations are rumored but I've never confirmed they exist. For example, someone on ebay recently listed an orange vinyl copy of 'Death Penalty', but it was really just a red vinyl copy that looked orange b/c of camera glare (I emaield the seller to confirm this).
For FoH, the pic disc is probably the easiest to find, the clear and silver vinyl are the hardest, although they still show up regularly. For DP, clear vinyl and pic disc are the easiest to find, black, red, and blue a little harder.
There are also different labels on some copies, but I don't know all the label variations. Some are pictured on the No Stayer WFG website. Hope that helps!

The Overlorde you mention from North Carolina, besides the track on Metal Massacre 8, have a demo called medieval metal!
Overlorde in my picture are from New Jersey and have this 1987 EP you see and a 2004 release called Return of the Snow Giant!
I do not think there are any other Overlorde "with an e"!!!!
Regarding Overlord, they are from Canada and they have a record, 3 demo tapes and a CD!

@sovdat: That would be Italy, the Seceda mountain range, August 2009.
@nightsblood: Yeah, I took a bunch of pics of the little fella, that picture was actually taken in the Seceda range as well, what a great experience that was.
Regarding the Death Penalty LP, what makes you say that the black version is harder to track down than the clear/pic ones? Just figured that a regular black record would be more distributed than coloured ones and thus more difficult to obtain, but I may be wrong.
@vasilis: Nice pics, despite the quality. I need so many of those, especially the Tantrum and Heathens Rage 12"s, damn.
(Eh, sorry about image size.)

Usually the black vinyl versions are the most common. However, based on copies that have been offered for sale on ebay over the past 2 years, black vinyl copies of Death Penalty are rarer (they get listed for sale less often). I'm not sure if less were made, or if everyone just bought one of the fancy color copies, and thus there are more of those floating around now. I check ebay very regularly for copies on different colors of vinyl and the clear vinyl shows up a lot more than the black for Death Penalty. You'd think the picture discs would also be rarer, but they show up very commonly for both DP and FoH.Snusmumriken wrote:@sovdat: That would be Italy, the Seceda mountain range, August 2009.

Another album where black is rarer than colored vinyl is Agent Steel- Mad Locust Rising EP. Most copies are blue; the black vinyl is much rarer (black may have only been used for promo copies).
Someone also recently posted a question about whether all versions of Death Penalty came with the inner sleeve containing lyrics. A lot of copies seem to lack the inner sleeve. However, many may have been, er, 'misplaced' due in part to the nudy picture on the inner sleeve (the band is holding up the model seen on the front cover).

by far the rarest Witchfinder General lp version of Death Penalty is the black vinyl, this is what the label looks like:

do you have it and have you ever seen it? It was also released without an insert.

Thanks for the confirmation Rob. The black vinyl version of Death Penalty is the only color I don't have, at least among the colors I know for a fact exist. Would love to find one to complete my setdoomedplanet wrote:by far the rarest Witchfinder General lp version of Death Penalty is the black vinyl, this is what the label looks like:

It's not that rare to be honest, plenty knocking about. I picked mine up from a dealer for £10 and I've had three other copies since, they've sold for between £20/£30. Getting it without the rust bleeds can be a pain in the arse though. The Knell wrote:how rare is the friends of hell platinum lp?
