Somehow I don't like this album; it doesn't have that apocalyptic/weird/psychotic/strange/hypnotic/trance inducing/schizophrenic atmosphere like their second masterpiece.Witchkiller wrote:don't forget Devil's Meat!!ION BRITTON wrote:Since we're including post-NWOBHM albums (but without Avenger's permission) I am obliged to add

But 'Evil friendship' is not even half as filthy and raw as 'Devil's meat'. I love them both, each one for different reasons. The Sentinel wrote:Somehow I don't like this album; it doesn't have that apocalyptic/weird/psychotic/strange/hypnotic/trance inducing/schizophrenic atmosphere like their second masterpiece.Witchkiller wrote:don't forget Devil's Meat!!ION BRITTON wrote:Since we're including post-NWOBHM albums (but without Avenger's permission) I am obliged to add

I wouldn't, but plenty of unscrupulous E-Bay sellers & record dealers would and do unfortunately.GJ wrote:First of all Gogmagog ain't exactly Heavy Metal. Would you consider Lionheart's Hot Tonight, Dianno's first solo album or Stratus' Throwing Shapes NWOBHM?
With hindsight, isn't it odd that all those "wimpy" records you mentioned have former Iron Maiden members connected to 'em? What was it about being members of Maiden that made them record such light weight material later? See also A.S.A.P.
Interesting.

Interesting.
The release from the dictatorship that is Steve Harris maybe. Combined with the general movement from seventies Hard Rock into AOR-territory/general blandness in the early to mid-eighties (Rainbow, Kiss, Uriah Heep, B.Ö.C. and about every Southern Rock band there was etc). Again the lack of musical integrity and identity that a true artist (S Harris - or is he just stubborn?) must possess is showing.
