Well, by the banner "Old School" do you meen new bands then ?? Because I could not put Nihilist or Treblinka in the "old school" box. When it all began in Sweden around 1987 it was Death Metal. I would say that "Old School" is an expression for bands that play Death metal the old way today. Anyway..

first of all, GROTESQUE - probably along with the well knowned Nihilist the best swedish Death Metal band ever. Very American, very satanic.

than, CREMATORY - among the most underrated Swedish Death metal bands. Still loved. Very American here to, still keeping the Swedish sound. very Brutal.

CARBONIZED - another quite underrated band. Among the best. Very wierd but still vital Death Metal.

MORPHEUS - Dark death metal. Old members from Nifelheim & Necrophobic

That's an interesting question in a broader sense too. When you think about it, "Old School" should mainly apply to new bands being influenced by older cutting-edge bands, who in their prime were about as far from "retro" as you'd possibly get.

Does anyone remember a demo-only act called HYDR-HYDR btw? They might have been Norwegian, but I'm not sure. I used to have a 3-song (rehearsal?)demo by them which enjoyed a lot back then. They did the CARNAGE/NIHILIST/MACABRE END thing with and obscure twist if I remember correctly. Would love to have that recording or other ones on mp3.

Yeah, thats what I mean.

Have not heard this band. When I met an old ex MORBID member early this year he told me about some band with a wierd name like that one, maybe the band he was talking about. But that was som really crappy stuff he was talking about. Bur he and LG (Nihilist, Entombed) were huge fans though, hehe.

Does this band have some relations with the "old" swedish band also called TRIBULATION ?

Absolutely not. Btw, the "Void of Compassion" demo was a fucking masterpiece! Too bad they flaked out on the album and then travelled along the "action rock" path w/ PUFFBALL.
