Bands With 5 Awesome Albums (or more?!)
Anacrusis 5 records! What did I miss? (demos and recent comp. not counted)
Tried making a list, ended up in an utter failure. Guess it's a matter of defining what makes an awesome record. Should any flaws be accepted, or may they even be forgivable if the rest of the record is more than awesome? I tried Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Manilla, Fates but they all failed somehow (on a more generous day they all would surely qualify - as would the Scorps, Heap, Rush...). Maybe Van der Graaf Generator is the only serious contender for succeeding in this kind of task, but then we're off topic I guess...

Sorry yeah I broke my own rule with Anacrusis and I counted the demo *sigh*
I debated putting Coroner in here, I'm not completely sure, still. Some material on the last two albums seems to outstay its welcome. I don't expect pop hits by Coroner of course and it's very clear they were considerate in composing these songs too but there's just so little going on I find my attention wandering off.
Yeah I don't mind an odd duff song per album personally, GJ. Even Awaken the Guardian has the instrumental it doesn't need on it, but if like a third of a record is no good then I don't think the rest of it even if it's fully stellar can pull it off.
on the progressive rock side I'd agree on Rush (first six), King Crimson (easily... Court, Larks, Starless, Red, Discipline), Yes (barely, though), I am forgetting things.

RISK, of course! I've listened to Dirty Surfaces earlier today, what an awesome slab of metal! Totally underrated band with two of the best German guitar players ever (Thilo Hermann and Rome Keymer).
I'm going to listen to Turpitude on my way to work tomorrow. It is a very moody album I've neglected to revisit for too long.

Running Wild was the first to pop in my mind. Haven't heard Blazon Stone, Masquerade, Rivalry, Victory, The Brotherhood and Rogues En Vouge but the rest borders between very good and extremely great imo.
Manowar's first four are superb, simple as that. The next three albums aren't as great but they're still good and I think you could get amazing album by mixing the best songs from these albums together.
Also these come to my mind..
Manilla Road
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Bathory
Judas Priest
Mercyful Fate
Sabbat (JPN)

I would probably also add:msp wrote:Solitude Aeturnus - all of their albums have been consistently excellent in my book.
Darkthrone (although I realise this is a band many on here would not be into)
Death
Iron Maiden (1st, Killers, NOTB, POM, Powerslave, SSOASS)

I'd like to add Loudness as well. I love Birthday Eve, Devil Soldier, The Law of Devil's Land, Disillusion and Thunder in the East. Hurricane Eyes is great also but has few wannabe-radio hit songs that are kinda fillers for me.
What about Kreator?
