MORAL DECAY (Can) - "To Build An End" demo '90

Post by DaN »

Another long overdue upload while I'm in the mood:

This have been a top-5 fave demo of mine since the day I recieved it back 1990. I'd describe them as technical yet raw and VERY catchy Power/Thrash. It got some mixed responses when I uploaded it at Miskatonic long ago, mostly due to the wild'n'screaming vocals (which makes it even better imo). "Screamo" was a word that came up if I remember correctly. Hm.. Ok, slap my face and call me an early 90's Screamo-fan then

I felt I needed to give something back to Thrashmageddon after a month of leeching (many cheers to Nenad for the invite!), so it's up over there as well. Hence the password: www.thrashmageddon.com
(the rar included a larger scan of the complete cover w/ lyrics)

...and special thanx to Metal Dan for sending the tape back in the days! (were'd you go, dude?)

This rules. It might end up in my top five favorite demos too. Top ten, at least. The vocals kind of remind me of Holy Terror, which sure ain't a bad thing.

Thanks for this! The vocals are definitely a bit too screamy (but not screamo), but the riff and melody work is exceptional, venturing almost into the neo-classical realm. Very good demo.

Nightlock-bot about to explode!

This is really weird my pre-conceived love of power/thrash and hate of screamo vocals (You were spot on I think here DaN). I really can't decide if I really like it (killer riffs) or hate it grrrrr

Seriously, I'm now cleansing my entire demo-collection and it seems the only stuff I'm keeping is SINDROME, MASTER'S HAMMER, BLACK VIRGIN - and this tape.

This is very cool indeed.

I notice a thanks to Sam Dunn in the special thanks list. I assume this is the same anthropolist / filmaker responsible for Headbanger's Journey, Flight 666 and Global Metal docos?
You want it to be one way. But it's the other way.

What are you talking about?

This is in MP3 format...

I just got around to listening to this now. I don't understand the "screamo" reference... The vocals are fine in my opinion. This has quite a bit of a progressive tinge to it, rather then Power Metal. A great, unique slab of Thrash. I enjoyed it. Thanks for the upload.
