The LP 'Exodus to Hell' was recorded summer 2007 and "Lightning Rod Avenger" hadn't yet been written then. Tomas and Oscar told me it will be on the next album. They are planning to record this autumn.Chafe wrote:Does anyone knows why LIGHTNING ROD AVENGER didn't make it into the album?, is it going to be released in another Single/EP/LP soon???
Helvetets Port
Chroming Rose “Pressure” LP found!

I really like this band- they have that early European metal 'our songs sound slightly weird on first listen- then blow you away' thing down to a T.
I must say when I saw the video the other week I had the hugest grin on my face.
My copies of the lp turned up a couple of days ago but I haven't had the chance for a proper listen yet.

I think i'll give them one last chance by listening to their full-length. The demos were downright godawful and the 7'' didn't do much to me either. If nothing happens this time, then Helvetets Port = Kaputt for me. Nice clip, although i must agree with one of the previous members that it does feel like they're trying a bit too hard. The whole concept is cool though.

NP "Exodus To Hell".
I was planning to just post a few lines on what makes the sound of HELVETETS PORT so special and unique as compared to other new "Old-School"/"Retro"-bands, but even thinking about this gets my head spinning and inspires a-mile-long, Helm-level rants* that my fingers just won't be able to handle on a friday night. The Riffing in "Killed By A Reaper" says it all for the time being..
"Ja men kom igen då förfan!!!"
*=a compliment.

This retro thing needs to be knocked on the head, these and Enforcer are embarrasing to say the least. It's 2009 for fucks sake. I'm glad stuff like this would die a quick death in the UK, you crazy Europeans, I just don't get the appeal. Music I don't have a problem with(other than it's very average) but the image/video??????????????
Whats the point?

Neither do most of the Irish metallers: http://www.metalireland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33981 - Perhaps you can read my replies (and those of "Invictus") and substitute Ireland with the UK wherever Ireland is referenced.Satan is Our Pal wrote:I'm glad stuff like this would die a quick death in the UK, you crazy Europeans, I just don't get the appeal.

Some great writing there, Barry.
For as long as I've known these guys they've always been wearing the tradtional Metal garb and have always been as far away from the tounge-in-cheek, clever "retro-hip" as is possible. Unintentionally so, I might add. There's one hell of a difference between "gimmicry" and daring to take on a Classic Metal Stage Image without the he-he's and the ho-ho's.
..but these matters mean nought when in fact the real magic of HP is the fantastic riffing and original song structures. So familiar for us Öbscüre Metal Worshippers, yet so unique and daring.

Wow, they've really improved since the early days, when they sounded pretty crap, but this is amazing, the vocals are way better. Best video in 20 years maybe. Not joking.
I don't think there's any air of trying too hard or not being serious, I have nothing but respect for these guys for what they're doing. The image is perfect, and it's not ridiculous, if one's love of REAL metal is so strong one just feels that spirit and the want to live it, by dressing accordingly etc. - go for it and fuck the naysayers! What really IS ridiculous to me is people saying 'this is 2009 for fucks sake', haha, so we can listen to old metal but if someone wants to dress like that they're cheesy, I think not.
And 'metalheads' who look like familyguys never wearing metal shirts and having short hair etc.; YOU are ridiculous to me. If someone is scared to let their passion show, then I can't respect it, and if someone doesn't feel that sort of passion on any level then it makes me wonder why you like metal in the first place. Ridiculing 80's metal garb is in line with the attitude of all the modern 'tough guy' metal and Black/Death etc. 'exteme' stuff.
Yes, there's a whole bunch of posers around, but I'm not getting into that in this post, and in this case it's pretty damn clear these guys are serious.
Band like The Lamp of Thoth sound pretty ridiculous and totally tongue-in-cheek to me, which means I can't stand their humour music, or who gives a fuck if Candlemass release another album or not, and the Heaven and Hell track sounded like shit to me with the drummer sounding totally bored - anyway, somehow it's wrong to not respect the old bands keeping on going but new bands trying to sound like the old days immediately suck?

So looking presentabel, clean cut and like you don't work at a local McDonald's is actually a BAD thing?daniel wrote: And 'metalheads' who look like familyguys never wearing metal shirts and having short hair etc.; YOU are ridiculous to me. Back on topic: I thought it sucks. Enforcer are much better at the retro metal thing imo.
@ Daniel:
Hahahahahaha, that's complete bullshit. One of the most moronic things I've ever heard! You've got to be kidding me when you say short-haired people can't really love metal. Some of us have jobs, you know ... and some metalfans actually have a mind of their own that tells them it's OK not to wear vomit-drenched denim.
You're totally reenforcing the common stereotype most people have about the average metalhead: an illiterate long-haired slob.

But does it slay witches?
No, I didn't say short-haired people can't like metal, I mean I don't understand that look - in contrast to short-haired metal fans not understanding long-haired metal guys who like to wear 80's clothes. But yeah I don't understand wanting to look 'normal'. And where did I say everyone has to dress metal to the bone all the time? I don't think so, but it's equal BULLSHIT for someone to go off on people dressing like that in a fuckin music video!!! And thinking wearing metal stuff makes you a slob pretty much tells me all I need to know, stick to 60's psyche. Some people conform, some don't.

HP had the opposite effect on me. First I thought the gimmicky visual would put me off, but listening to "Exodus to Hell" I couldn't help but noticing my right foot tapping and my neck gradually bending forward and back again. It's just plain great heavy friggin metal. Fuck maturity by the way. Shouldn't Metal induce a restless and wild attitude?
