The vocals are great, the classic ballsy US metal voice. Musically isn't anything groundbreaking, but the song is very enjoyable as a whole. I like it.
Good against Evil, Evil sure to win

First band I thought of was HEATHEN'S RAGE. Superb vocal lines, flawless riffing... yes, I'd really like to hear more of this. But rough demo-mix really doesn't do this song justice. The music is just perfect US Epic Power Metal, that brand that everyone loves and I always thought that style fit better w/ a clean production.
Hm... if this was taken from an unknown VINYL I think the collector-mania would set in and I'd be pretty desperate for more info. Now I don't have any trouble with a little mystery, other than wanting to hear more of course. If some cool trivia or other band-connection turns up it's just a bonus.doomedplanet wrote:This is kind of a little experiment. Yes, I love a good mystery! Great song. If I had to put a year on it I would say 85. I would have guessed they were from NY/NJ area, but if you found it in Oregon then that would be more likely.doomedplanet wrote:This is kind of a little experiment. I'm thinking of running a little contest but not sure if there would be enough involvement in it to justify the hassle.

I've no problem with this kind of mystery as long as the answer is eventually revealed, but feel free to take your time and have fun with it
As far as contests or guessing games regarding really obscure/unknown stuff, it will probably just become a random guessing game. Peter's right; many of these obscure groups can sound pretty similar and if they're really unknown and have no ties to a better known band, the only way someone can get it right is if they already know the answer. Otherwise, folks are just left making guesses based on small similarities to other recordings. Summary- feel free to try it, but don't expect folks to get it right very easily/often.

I absolutely love this Epic power metal tape tape that I found for $1 in Portland a few weeks ago. maybe the best x-ian metal i ever heard in my life. The cover art doesn't lead you to believe something this good could be on the tape but that photo in the first post gave a hint it might be good. Demo does have 2 instrumentals on it. Completely unknown demo band, so far I cannot find it referenced anywhere, not in Headbangers, not anywhere. Found it amongst some crappy x-ian tapes, but I did get a Kryst the Conqueror tape on the same day. In 5 years of living in Oregon this is the only unknown thing like it I've come across.
Thanks to those that left some feedback. 850+ views and 22 comments and 63 listens, not quite what I hoped but what the hell. A couple of you guys nailed it pretty closely. Makes me wonder what other unknown 80's bands came out of Oregon.
I decided due to small turnout I won't run the free record contest I was thinking about.

Very good find, congrats Rob! If this tape had better production it would have been huge.
