Never even seen the name before I started to read this thread. 95% of my friends are metalheads too, and I have never ever heard them say the name Savage Grace. I have probably read 10-15 books about Heavy Metal in my life and hundreds of articles, and I have never seen their name. So what?
You need this album in your life.

Hmmm, part of the problem here is how 'obscure' a person thinks Savage Grace is. They're not some totally lost band, but I don't think they're as well-known as Avenger seems to either.

There are so many bands out there that EVERYONE is gonna miss SOMETHING that, to others, may seem like an obvious choice. Maybe it's odd this nu-speed metal playa didn't know SG, but was this an anomaly, or did he really know nothing about the genre? If he was familiar with Whiplash, Holy Terror, Agent Steel, etc etc, then he just 'missed' SG. If he didn't know know ANY of these bands, THEN you start wondering about the trueness of his steel

That's what I thought but there is sooo many bands with same name and some of them plays Death/Thrash so I wanted to be sure I haven't missed something really cool. Though I probably have because DM knowledge isn't my strong points

"Savage Grace" was just one example...

I probably listed 10 bands and his facial expression stayed entirely blank until finally I mentioned "Exciter" and he commented.

Although, living in Canada and being into Metal and not knowing who Exciter is should be punishable by death.
