Which are the best metal illustrators and covers out there are the best for you? My favourites are Dan SeaGrave's ones, especifically the Penetralia CD cover.

What about you guys?

I really like this.

I adore Voivod covers a lot... My absolute favourite probably is the Serenades cover by Anathema though, I think. Death and libido personified.

Ooookay, this comment coming on the tail of my posting really rubbed me wrong... Since you seem to be such an expert knowing what-was-drawn-how, let me show you some small examples to give you some food for thought.

Digital oils and real oils both allow for skillful work in skillful hands. It's the aesthetic strength that should be applauded when artwork is good, not if it was made digitally or by hand. If someone put in the hours to draw something right, it'll appear right, the medium isn't the issue. A lot of photoshop-style HM covers scream "I made my nephew do this in 2 hours" and that's more the problem than it is in fact, photoshop.

Sorry, next time I'll wait till some other people have responded after you before I post.

My comment had to do with the cover in my post. I've never seen covers that 'sharp' looking when computer drawing wasn't used, and I'm just not very fond of it.

The Warhammer 40K image posted in this thread is made by hand and it's by far the sharpest in here heh

Not sharp in that way, but a little unnatural sharpness you can find in sharp computer drawings. Or in not so sharp computer work the colours are often different from natural drawings.

BTW: I thought I recognized the characters from something, didn't know it was from Warhammer. I guessed some old space shooter or something.
