Sure, that would rate them automatically as "100% mentally deranged" persons...but i think that drug abuse was one of the first things on their daily agenda, at least in the EP period.Helm wrote:It's actually scarier to consider the possibility that there weren't, you know?

I think the number one Band would be Sleep and their Jerusalem release. They took their whole recording Budget and bought Weed and fucked their major label London Records by giving the label one track that was over an hour long. They even called it "Dopesmoker".
"Drop out of life with bong in hand
Follow the smoke toward the riff filled land
Drop out of life with bong in hand
Follow the smoke toward the riff filled land
Proceeds the Weedian, Nazareth "
Great!

I started a thread here a while back asking for suggestions of Psychedelic Metal, and i think a lot of the records mentioned in response would probably fit the bill for this thread too, like "Land Of Mystery" by Black Hole, The Mezmerist EP and Paul Chain's "Detatching From Satan", drugs surely inspired/aided/hindered/affected those recordings.
Normal everyday straight people just do not make music that fucked up.
Unless their name is Frank Zappa, who apparently never touched anything stronger than caffeine & nicotine.

Well yes, if you don't count cigarettes and caffeine!MEXDefenderOfSteel wrote:have u recorded anything completely sober man??Professor Black wrote:Now that's an interesting topic... who is making metal while completely clean and sober!
Dawnbringer - almost all (only weed during the 2nd album)
Superchrist - Ladycutter 7"
Pharaoh - The Longest Night
and the new Superchrist CD actually
All recorded without alcohol or drugs. I also wasn't drinking during the recording of Nachtmystium "Instinct Decay" album, and let me tell you, that was a nightmare.
But I don't know if I'm a valid case. I've certainly had my ups and downs with various substances in the past, so maybe even if I'm not actively involved with them, those experiences forever changed me? There's no way to know now!
